Review:
Recommended by my coworker, watched with my friend Detrezo.
This show changed the way I look at anime. The storytelling, life lessons, and overall presentation of this anime was so unique to me. This is definitely a more character focused show, but it does so well in other areas unlike a lot of other character focused shows. Because of this focus on developing and writing characters, they feel very real and therefore are easy to connect with. I was literally crying because a green blob sacrificed himself for Mob (and then came back later but whatever).
This show just checks all the boxes. You want characters that feel like real people? You want insane fights with minimal CG? You want a cool universe and power system? You want a good ending? You want comedy that isn't forced? The only complaints I really have are that the soundtrack was not as impressive as some other anime and the pacing was iffy in some areas. That being said, the soundtrack was quite good and the "Mob" theme or whatever that always plays whenever something cool is happening is one that definitely stands out. When this show wants the pacing to be good, it really does get good, but there are small arcs that are less interesting for sure. The reason this doesn't bring down the show too much is because the characters are so likable that I don't really mind seeing them do something other than fighting.
Overall, this anime really impressed me. I heard somewhere that this show was really good for its art, and yes, it definitely is in areas like S2. However, I really appreciated the characters and the storytelling with those characters. It told a story in a way that made me feel very close to the characters that not many other anime have done, seeing their struggles, changes, and relations in detail.
