Isekai Quartet initially was a concept that reflected something I would think about as a dumb idea in the shower. 4, no 5, no technically 6 anime crossing over in one high school SOL anime. Like who thinks of that and actually produces it? Well whoever made it, they are fucking geniuses. The idea is just great. 6 anime with common themes (isekai), all lovable characters, and overall just really funny and entertaining.
The thing that makes it so interesting is the countless references that you can point out. Not only that, but the references in different shows interact with eachother. For example, Subaru's witch curse gets noticed by Ains, or how Rem re-enacted the emotional Subaru line (starting from 0) when Aqua was whining. Super cool to see characters meet and interact with eachother. Also super interesting to see how people like Ains aren't quite at the tippy top of the power scale in such a world. It's just such an interesting concept that was pulled off so well.
Of course, there were some references I didn't get. I've only watched 3 out of the 6 presented anime in the show, and it was still awesome. I can only imagine how much better it would have been if I watched Tanya or even Shield hero or whatever it's called. I might even watch Tanya now bc this show has sparked my interest. It was overall just great, like how am I not gonna like this. I like highschool slice of lifes, I like Konosuba, I like Re:Zero, I like Overlord, and I like creative crossovers.
(Also if ur wondering why the story rating is so high on this anime, its because the story category covers alot of stuff, not only including the plot and the timeline, but the basis and concept of the show and the execution of said concept. Also, the ratings for S1 and S2 are identical because they just feel like one season to me especially because each episode is only 12 minutes)
Review (Isekai Quartet Movie: Another World):
This one was really fun to watch.
I've always had a soft spot for Isekai Quartet because of its unique concept. This movie really took the storytelling to a different level and stopped being a slice of life. The movie actually worked really well and the story genuinely got kinda sad and deep at one point. It really impressed me overall.
There isn't much to say that hasn't already been said about Isekai Quartet. The show combines all of these different shows into one universe. What was interesting is that there were many different aspects of different shows in this "new world" they were transported to. Vera is from Tanya the evil, Pantagruel is seemingly from Konosuba, Alec is maybe from Re:Zero(?) and the golems are from Overlord. The show cleverly puts in these details which I found cool, as they aren't just random characters that are made up from nothing. The music definitely got better because this is a film, but the visuals are still trash lol.
The one main complaint I personally have, which isn't necessarily a flaw of the movie, is that the whole intention of Vera is so pointless to me because I never finished Tanya the evil. I don't really understand wtf she's even talking about with the war and the empire, so I just kinda rolled with it, but it definitely took away from what was the entire point of the movie pretty much. Other than that, this movie really impressed me. I really liked the ending with Kazuma stealing Pantagruel out of the golem. For how boring Isekai Quartet was, this movie really did something great.
