Islands

RainWing Island:

About:

The RainWings live on a relatively small tropical island near the planet’s equator. Formed by a now dormant volcano, the island is home to a wide variety of plants and animals, though the scars of past eruptions can still be seen on parts of the island. The RainWings live peacefully on their island home, few caring much for the goings on of the rest of the world. They currently live under the rule of Princess Cucumber, who as of the more laid-back of the SeaWing princesses tends to leave the RainWings to their own devices. That has not stopped some from looking to depose their SeaWing ruler, having heard rumors of similar rebellions on other islands from passing SeaWing traders. But with little support from the greater RainWing population, the would-be rebellion has yet to take off.

There are also rumors circling around about the SeaWings looking into the ancient ring lodged into the side of the volcano; though this has yet to be proven, and Princess Cucumber vehemently denies it.

Notable Locations:

Seaside Village: The main RainWing village on the island, established as a mediary between the RainWings’ orchards and gardens and the SeaWings’ global trade. Most RainWings on the island live here, and it is also home to the above-water branch of Princess Cucumber’s palace.

Vingrove Orchard: The largest fruit-producing orchard on the island, and the main source of the island’s exports. While Princess Cucumber is meant to oversee its smooth operation, her general disinterest leaves it mostly in the talons of the RainWings operating it.

Hot Springs: A popular spot for both RainWings and SeaWings to wash away their stress. Princess Cucumber has her own private spring that she spends quite a bit of time in.

Seaside Cliff: A massive cliff hanging high above the ocean, with arguably the best view on the island. A single tree sits atop the very end of the cliff, and occasionally visitors will come to sit beneath it and admire the infinite sprawl of twinkling waves.

Undersea Palace: Each of the SeaWing princes and princesses tasked with overseeing an island has their own undersea palace, inaccessible to the tribe they are watching over for defensive purposes. Princess Cucumber’s palace is relatively small, but lavishly decorated with the rewards of a booming market for tropical fruits. She spends much of her time down here, and even many SeaWings aren’t quite sure what she is up to.

Rebel Encampment: A small cluster of huts hidden within the jungle high on the mountainside, where the few RainWings who dislike living under SeaWing rule organize. They currently lack the numbers required to overthrow Princess Cucumber and find it difficult to convince others to join their cause when she hasn’t really wronged the RainWings in any way, so far at least.

The Ring: Lodged into the side of the volcano is a massive propulsion ring from an inter-dimensional vessel of the early exploration age of the multiverse, predating the war against Fathom. It has long sat decaying on the RainWing’s island, its origins passed down in mere folktales by the island’s inhabitants like all instances of multiverse travelers passing this part of the planet. Rumor has it that Princess Cucumber is leading dubious experiments on the ring, but many write this off as conspiracy theories spread by the rebels to foster contempt for the SeaWing princess.
