On Aug 11, the Amitabha Triple Contemplation Service was held with the support of Venerable Chueh Zhao of Edmonton and Venerable Zhi Xing of Hsi Lai Temple. Venerable Chueh Zhao officiated the Amitabha Triple Contemplation Service. There were 2,800 people in total attending the Emperor Liang Repentance Service and 200 people attending the Amitabha Triple Contemplation Service.
With sincere hearts, participants repented for their past actions, praying for the Buddha's grace to cleanse their previous lives, heal their sorrows, and guide them toward rebirth in the Pure Land. During the ceremony, the Abbess of Vancouver Fo Guang Shan, Venerable Chueh Chu, explained the merits of making offerings and the principles of karma. Buddha's Light International Association Young Adult Division (BLIA-YAD) Vancouver subdivision set up the food offering for the Amitabha Triple Contemplation Service, using creativity, devotion and offerings to develop Dharma affinities with all beings. Children's baby bottles and boxed snacks from this year's offering will be donated to the Food Bank for those in need.
