On August 5, more than ten members of the Profound Subchapter of BLIA Vancouver took part in a one-day volunteer service at the Surrey Food Bank. The activity extended the subchapter’s tradition of community service and came at a time when summer donations and staffing are often limited.
Volunteers assisted with distributing a wide variety of supplies, including fresh fruits and vegetables, bread, dairy products, frozen foods, beverages, pet food, and cleaning items. Handling fresh produce required extra care, and the team worked efficiently to sort, pack, and deliver food.
Throughout the day, the group coordinated smoothly with Food Bank staff, offering assistance with smiles and respect to each family receiving goods. Their teamwork and compassion helped create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for community members.
The event provided practical support but also reflected the spirit of compassion in action promoted by Fo Guang Shan, strengthening ties with the local community and demonstrating how small acts of service bring real benefit to society.
