To express gratitude for their long-standing selfless service, Fo Guang Shan Vancouver held the 2025 “It's Good to Have You” Volunteer Appreciation and VegRun Gathering on July 12 at Garden City Community Park in Richmond. The event was both a heartfelt thank-you and a joyful reunion.
In her remarks, Venerable Chueh Chu expressed deep gratitude and emotion, noting that every successful event depends on the quiet, behind-the-scenes dedication of the volunteers. She reminded everyone that the Fo Guang family is not only a platform for service, but also a home for shared cultivation and growth. She encouraged participants to live by the “Three Acts of Goodness” and “Four Givings,” and to keep making vows, cultivating compassion, and share wisdom and light throughout society, bringing more love and peace to the world.
The day also celebrated the success of the 2025 VegRun charity event. Thanks to volunteers and runners, a total of 6,000 kilometers were completed. In return, BLIA Vancouver will donate 600 pounds of vegetables to the Muslim Food Bank and Food Stash Foundation, promoting the spirit of giving and helping others.
The event included mindfulness warm-ups, group meditation, and a walk around the park with VegRun flags, promoting healthy living and plant-based values. After lunch, volunteers sang together and shared touching stories about their service. Many spoke about the joy of helping others and how they’ve learned patience, teamwork, and compassion.
Games and lucky draws ended the event on a high note, with lots of laughter and stronger friendships. This gathering was more than just appreciation—it energized everyone to keep serving with joy and build a more loving and peaceful world together.
