On August 16, the Harmony Subchapter of BLIA Vancouver held a Mid-Autumn event titled “Handmade Pineapple Cakes – A Touch of Dharma Light” at member Xuan-Zhong Wu’s residence, with 20 participants joining in. The program combined baking, film viewing, and Dharma sharing in a warm and festive atmosphere.
The event opened with guidance from Abbess Venerable Chueh Chu, who encouraged everyone to enjoy cultural traditions like baking and films while also drawing inspiration from Dharma to bring peace, happiness, and wisdom into daily life.
Participants then worked in groups to make pineapple cakes, while also watching the BLIA award-winning short film “Link”, which tells a story of compassion and connection. Afterward, everyone enjoyed the cakes with tea and shared reflections on letting go of prejudice and connecting through kindness.
In closing, Venerable Chueh Chu reminded members that practicing the Three Acts of Goodness—doing good deeds, speaking good words, and thinking good thoughts—always brings positive results. She encouraged everyone to take action in the present and spread compassion, so that daily life may be filled with Dharma joy and light.
