Details

We invite high school age female skiers to join us for a fun-filled afternoon that will involve a 1-hour session at the uOttawa Gee-Gees High Performance Center followed by team building activities, good food, and prizes. Younger athletes will have an opportunity to chat and find out what it's like to keep skiing through University.

We want to highlight the many benefits of combining education with sport and emphasize the various paths that young women can take to stay involved.

WHY Ski Through School?

The transition from high school to post-secondary education has many potential challenges and is a critical period for dropping out of sport. This is also a time when young women establish lifelong habits that have a profound influence on their physical and mental health.

Being part of a sports team can enhance your University experience in so many ways! Beyond being fun and meeting other people outside your program, you'll experience many physical, psychological, academic, and social benefits.

Lifelong love and participation in sport comes in many forms, that are not always emphasized in other programs.

RESOURCES

We want all nordic skiers to stay involved with the sport! Whether your goal is high performance, or just to keep active and involved with the ski community through your University career, there is likely an option for you in Canada and opportunities keep growing.

Getting a post-secondary education and continuing to ski at a high level is possible. We have some terrific examples in Canada, and there are many more in the US as they have a strong collegiate nordic ski system that athletes have competed in while studying before going on to be top 10 on the World Cup circuit.
