Outreach & Community Engagement

Participation in a winter sport is one of the best ways to enjoy Ottawa's snowy winters.

uOttawa Nordiq athletes are passionate about the sport of cross country skiing and eager to introduce the sport to other students and the wider community. We are also committed to helping the Ottawa Gatineau Ski community activities.

Nakkertok Trail Clearing

Our athletes had the opportunity to see the incredible work going on at Nakkertok Nordic and lend a hand in some trail clearing.

In many ways more satisfying, invigorating, and memorable than another afternoon of studying . . . (more pictures here).

Celebrate Winter!

Learning to love outdoor activities will help people celebrate the Winter season. We've partnered with XC Ottawa with a great prize from ZIZU Optics to bring back the First Snowfall contest.

How to Train for Cross Country Skiing

While we think nordic skiing is always pretty fun, being in shape and having better technique can certainly make skiing more enjoyable.

So, we are making our training overviews and detailed training plans available to all - please follow along and be inspired to ski this winter!

uOttawa Nordiq in Lap the Gats for Parkinson's Research

uOttawa Nordiq put a team together to raise funds for Parkinson's research at the 5th annual Lap the Gats on June 24, 2018. The money raised will help further the research at the uOttawa Brain and Mind Research Institute.

Outreach with Schoolchildren

We had a lot of fun introducing over 200 schoolkids to nordic skiing and outdoor activities!

Nordic skiing will take you to some amazing places!
