This crisp and sunny afternoon Sunday our athletes had the opportunity to see the incredible work going on at Nakkertok Nordic and lend a hand in some trail clearing.
Led by Jeff and Geoff (aka Wilma & Betty) with Dave Adams on chipping instruction our athletes learned a few new skills as they helped out with some wood splitting, wood chipping, digging, brush clearing and bridge building.
In many ways more satisfying, invigorating, and memorable than another afternoon of studying . . .
Thanks Nico Lum for coordinating!
Much of this work is standard at most ski clubs at this time of year, but Nakkertok has more tasks on hand than usual: this March, Nakkertok Nordic is the venue for the 2019 Canadian Ski Nationals hosted by ÉNGNE (Évènements Nordiques Gatineau Nordic Events). Major improvements are underway to host this event, including snowmaking extensions, a new timing hut, new trails and widening of existing trails, just to name a few of the projects going on.
