The strength and success of our current athletes stand on the foundation built by dedicated Gee-Gees Nordiq student-athletes across the decades. The program's history spans back to the 1980s and 90s, with the modern program officially re-established in 2017.
The original Gee-Gees Nordiq team was a strong competitor on the OUA circuit during its era, even hosting the OUA Championships at Camp Fortune.
Following a program hiatus, the spirit of student dedication never stopped. The program was officially re-invigorated in 2017 and has since climbed the ranks to achieve Varsity Garnet Status. This current era, which is represented by the team photos listed below, continues the legacy of OUA competition and growth. We are proud to honor this history by bringing the OUA Championships back to the Ottawa region as we host the event this season (2026).
The strength of the Gee-Gees Nordiq community is evident in the commitment of its alumni. Many former athletes remain highly active in the ski community, contributing as coaches, event volunteers, trail groomers, and wax technicians. Their generous support, including contributions to our recent fundraising initiatives, is vital to the team's continued strength. We truly appreciate their ongoing commitment.
We are always looking to strengthen the connection between Gee-Gees past and present. If you are a former athlete, we encourage you to share your favourite memories or photos from that early era with the team - connect with uOttawanordiq@gmail.com.
