Ski Day on the Hill

Don't miss the 4th Annual Ski On The Hill!

Wednesday, February 27, 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM.

Here is your opportunity to ski on Parliament Hill! Come celebrate winter with fellow skiers and outdoor enthusiasts on Wednesday February 27th from 11;30 - 1:00 pm.

It is a perfect time to showcase cross country skiing, as the National Capital Region is getting ready to host the Canadian Cross-Country Ski Championships from March 13 to 20th at Nakkertok Nordic.

Ski Day on the Hill is to help promote National Health and Fitness Day, an initiative aimed at getting more Canadians to participate in a healthy, active lifestyle. While the official National Health and Fitness Day is in June, this event promotes getting outside and being active during the winter months.

This year, a group of cross-country skiers from Fort-Coulonge QC will be arriving on the Hill after skiing 140 km.

Cross country skiing, an activity that is accessible to all, especially with the advent of new and very popular urban winter trail networks in Canada's capital (SJAM Winter Trail, Ski Heritage East).

So bring your family and friends, and join Senator Marty Deacon, fellow Senators, MPs, Ottawa youth, Olympians/Paralympians for a friendly nordic ski on the famed grounds in front of the Parliament buildings.

There will be activities and hot chocolate and the event is open to all!

You don't need to be a cross country skier to participate - come on out and see what cross country skiing is all about (skis, boots and poles provided to MPs, Senators and Media).

This unique event is being held in partnership with Nakkertok Nordic and XC Ski Fast. Groomer Dave will prepare the track using the equipment that sets the SJAM trail along the Ottawa River (www.wintertrail.ca).
