38th meeting of Tokyo Metropolitan Toastmasters Club

In the chilly rainy morning, the meeting had started at Koujimachi-Kuminkan.

Attendees were 17 and we welcomed one guest.

That day’s Word of the morning was “fascinating” by TM W-u and we moved on to our club’s original program “Good and New” by TM K-bo smoothly.

“News of the Week was presented by TM S-ta. The former week of meeting, he visited Rikuzen-Takata for volunteer activity and he told us his experience with some pictures.

There were four prepared speeches at the meeting. The first speaker was TM S-ne and his project was CC#6 “Vocal Variety”. The speech title was “Chai Time”. He talked about his chai experience in India and how it works in Japanese daily life. He will enter the “Area Contest” as a representative of our club in English section.

The second speaker was TM Y-ya. The title was “My Special Ostrich”. This was her Icebreaker. Her mysterious title attracted interest of audience in advance. And she conveyed the secret of life she learned from Ostrich successfully.

TM I-oh was the third speaker. His speech was based on AC#3 “Diffusing Verbal Criticism” and the title was “…in wonder land” presented by Japanese. In the speech time of fourteen minutes, he presented how to overcome the criticism from other person with his unique and passionate way.

The final speaker was TM H-ga. Her project was CC#3 “Get to the Point”.The speech title was “Let’s make use of STABA”. Presenting this familiar topic, she dated back her those days and incorporated it to actual STABA life. It was fun to listen her speech because we felt her love for STABA a lot.

Table topics session was held by TM A-ki. She will move to Germany next month and she will be absence for 5 months. So this was her last speech before leaving. Today’s her topics were concerning with education which she is interested in always.The respondents were TM M-shi,TM W-u,TM K-bo, TM J-an. Her emcee and respondent’s speeches put enthusiasm into the audience because of the familiarity of the topics.

In Evaluation Session, TM K-da provided feedback to TM S-ne and mentioned his tone and gesture. TM S-to provided feedback to TM Y-ya and congratulated her successful completion of the first speech. TM K-o provided feedback to TM I-oh and his experienced feedback must be good example for recently joined members.TM A-wa provided feedback to TM H-ga and she gave adequate one for her.

TM Y-shi was General Evaluator and summarized the meeting in detail. Unfortunately we had little time leaving. So we had to hurry him.

After the meeting, the members visited Indian Restaurant near the meeting place and drove away the gloomy mood of rainy afternoon with the hot spicy smell of curry.
