Detailed report of the meeting on February 26

On February 26, the 14th meeting of Tokyo Metropolitan Toastmasters Club took place.The meeting was the first theme meeting of our Club, and the meeting was conducted all in English.The theme was "Trad Japan Meeting", which focused on informing Japanese cultures and traditions in English assuming that the audience mainly consists of foreign people. The meeting was held in traditional Japanese "tatami" room, and some participants were dressed in Japanese-style clothes.The first speaker of the day was TM Shuhei, who spoke about the culture of drinking parties in Japanese communities. He made effective use of humor and involved the audience well by demonstrating the typical "call" that takes place in Japanese drinking parties. Don't worry, we don't drink alcohol from the morning in our Club - the demonstartion was with fruit juice ;)TM Anthony, who is an experienced practitioner of Jodo, a Japanese martial art using short staffs, performed the art of Jodo in his speech. TM Masami, an experienced Iaido practitioner, participated in the demonstration of Jodo, and the audience enjoyed a dynamic performance, as TM Anthony's speech title "How to Become a Samurai" indicated.TM Ken, the last speaker, spoke about the Japanese nabe using a lot of visual aids. He not only introduced this typical Japanese cuisine in a colorful way but also he showed a lot of historical and regional facts.The theme of the table topics, emceed by TM Kazuko, surrounded "spring", and with the request of the Vice President Education, the keyword "Japan" was required to answer the questions. TM Trent, who spoke about his expeirence about graduation in South Korea and Japan.We welcomed several guests in this meeting, and a second-timer guest joined our Club before the close of the meeting.Our next meeting is March 12 at Jimbocho Kumin-kan.
