This was our 4th game of the season and it was one more early morning game at Wilson Farm ground. Almost everyone came to the ground on time and started setting up the field. Unlike last game, we won the toss asked opponents to bat. Our bowlers were right on the money from the get go. It was good to see all the bowlers were bowling with tight line, fielders supported really well and I don’t think we dropped a single catch in this game, as a result none of their batsmen could settle down. #MrDelicateGuy stood out again (2 in a row) in this game with outstanding bowling figure as 2 overs 3 runs and 4 wickets. We bundled them for mere 41 runs.
We thought we could chase that target with ease but that was not destined I guess. As they say cricket is a funny game :) Our top 6 batsmen threw away their wicket and came back to the dugout, within no time we saw the scorecard as 21 for 6. It was hard to see as their bowlers were not that outstanding. I knew we had the batting strength until the end but honestly there were butterflies in stomach. After that we experienced some sensible batting by Hariprasath #MrCool&Calm and #SeriousGuy. It was really a treat to watch their shot selection and calmness while chasing. There were no unnecessary risks taken and panic on their face (don’t know about their inner feelings though ;) ). I could easily say Titans future is bright as it’s in good hands. Take a bow you two, a job well done … I mean it … Thank You!
Few points:
Strength - We did not bowl lot many extras, just 2 wides. That’s a significant improvement from last few games.
Strength - Fielding and energy on the field was exceptional. Keep it going.
Improvement Area - Top order batsmen (including me especially) need to adjust their game and adapt well to the game situation. Let’s work on this next.
Strength - It was good to see players stepping up to the occasion and see the job through to the finish line when the top order collapsed. This is the real definition of a team sport, not everyone will click on any given day.
This is probably my mistake, we took the game little seriously. Let’s get back in to the rhythm of having fun at the game which we are used to. Results does not matter.
