Goodbye to Zoher

Partner In Crime

We have lot of new members in our club; most of them may not know Zoher Bootwala, so I thought of scribbling some about him. Veterans are trying to forget him J, but it is impossible. Zoher, my partner in crime for a long time, has made a long lasting impression in the club. He joined our club in 1903, oops, sorry 2003 I guess (not sure). He has opened our bowling since then. If I say that he is a genuine fast bowler, it will be little bit of exaggeration J but if I say that he is a genuine swing bowler, it will be an understatement, an awesome outswing bowler. He is a real fighter on the field, and real hunter off the field (seriously). Very often he will surprise you in fielding, by taking some absolute blinders. Also he is very famous/notorious for calling LOUDLY “good ball” before even the ball is delivered. Trust me, he would do that for every ball, even for opponents :-). And his biggest contribution to WCCC/Titans is through his batting. Along with me he has the distinguished honor of having the most DNB medals J. So I thought it is appropriate to title this write-up as “Partner in crime”. He is saying goodbye to the club in a professional way, I thought we should say goodbye to him in Titans way (embarrass him a bit)J . Personally, it was a privilege sharing the new ball with him and sharing the DNB tag with him J. We will wish him luck for his new job, new place and new club.

There were many occasions Zoher has made a huge impact towards our wins. Not all were documented. Here are some of the highlights of his contribution that were recorded.

Quotes: “Zoher bowled exceptionally well beating both of the batsman number of times. In my view he was the best bowler of the match. Both of the batsman had no clue about his out-swinging balls. Finally paid off when Zoher nailed the ball of the match, it came in and disrupted Chaminda's stumps.”

After few overs Zoher came back again and so far he did not disappoint us at all in the match. And this time also no change in the consistency. Vinod was facing and he just placed one ball to point and Sachin was fielding somewhere between cover and silly-point. The ball was in air and Sachin plucked it out from thin air, Jonty style classic catch. That's it man, the match was done there itself. Dave came next and couldn't stand more than one ball of our accurate bowling of Zoher.

Another match report by Chen & Scorecar, where Zoher made an impact.
