Final Report

Yesterday was the pre-quarterfinal match for us and we are out of the tournament in the first round. As someone said, nothing is going right in 2020 and we (as in Titans) are not spared from this. Nothing seemed to click in our favor and it was one of those days. Anyways, this report is not about the game.

It’s about me, ‘Sourav Titans Das’ (created the middle name for myself with pride). This was my last game as a captain. I would like to sit in the back seat and relax now. I tried and do justice to this role for the leather ball team and tennis ball team for quite some time now (not at the same time though). I would have handed over this role last year on a high note, but I personally didn’t do a good job in finding and grooming my successor. So, it didn’t make sense and I guess that was not destiny. Anyways, the time has come for me to pass the baton to a younger leader who will reach greater heights for this team. My successor will be announced soon. I am sure you all will but just a sincere request to provide full support to the next captain of this team.

A little bit about myself for those who don’t know, if you want me to pick my favorite year(s) in Titans as captain, I would pick 2015 for the leather ball team and 2019 for the tennis ball team. I was lucky enough to experience a few different eras in this team, from Chen-Salim-Sandeep-Amod-Sudhir-Manesh-Sachin, Kalyan-Rajesh-Shan-Dinesh-Abhinay-Abhishek-Sakthi, Madhu-Chaitu-Varun-Suresh-Srinu-Sivaram to Puneet-Francis-Viswa-Sudhir and all the hashtag names that I created (I apologize if I forgot few important names). But I picked 2015 and 2019 not because of outcomes, we truly had fun playing the game as a team in both seasons. The team camaraderie was outstanding and unmatchable. But the captain is only as good as his team, I looked good on paper only because of my awesome and selfless teammates. I was simply lucky to have teammates in both formats of the game in those 2 years. During 2015, we came really close to touching the championship trophy, but 2019 was the ultimate in regards to effort, application, and result. Thank you, thank you, and thank you!!! I can’t thank all my teammates enough for giving their full support and helping me achieve one of the items on my bucket list. I will always treasure those moments and will take them to my grave.

I am not hanging up my boots yet, I will just be a player on the ground from now onwards and help my team at every level possible … provided I get picked :P
