??? years before Game-Start
Much of the valley's history remains shrouded in mystery. What is certain is that large creatures once existed within the vale, evidenced by the marks that they left on the land. Nature reclaims everything with time, but beneath the foliage are remnants of battle-scarred earth, dead zones where flora has not yet found its roots. Nevertheless, life persists in this place, drawing many in with an irresistible urge.
The Valleyfolk live secluded, yet peaceful lives, rarely encountering factions other than their own, and when they do, their interactions are fleeting at best. And for these interim years, the five factions lavished in an indulgent lifestyle, cared for by a vastly bountiful land.
Prior to Game-Start
Tides rush in, tides rush out.
Many, many Choruses pass and the once five factions within the Valley; Waterthorn, Eirmuir, Timberhold, Goldenwind and Gaelkin eventually fall into strife.
Something changes within the landscape, a subtle shift in the sunlight, a blur in the shadow of the trees. Slowly, unbeknownst to the naked eye, the land rots. It starts with the spread of sand across the south, creeping northward as plants wilt and trees fall.
With their territory's bounty bleeding away before their very eyes - Goldenwind, out of desperation - pushes Gaelkin further and further from their ancestral home between the dunes and the islands, growing conflict between Gaelkin and Eirmuir. The Eirmuirians are cut off from the mainland by this territorial clash, and the two clans go to war with each other in a bid for their own futures.
Through a short but vicious war, Gaelkin slowly dwindles and the clan is left shattered - disbanded after their Deathmaw, falls in battle.
And amidst the quieting sounds of battle, emerges a new Song, this time heard by only four.
Game-Start [Summer 2024] - Current
For some time, the four remaining factions lived through a short age of peace. Wolves come and go, and the Valley largely remains unchanged as pieces are put back together following the wars between Goldenwind, Gaelkin, and Eirmuir.Â
Peace is not a luxury easily earned though within the Valley.

[Spring/Summer 2025]
A rot begins to infest Waterthorn's home, and it doesn't take long before Heilang is infected and succumbs to the sickness. Word spreads as quick as the wind moves, and Amias, the Alphason who was previously exiled from Waterthorn for murdering his father, returns to his home and stakes claim to the title of Gurun. Not long after his return though, the Rot spreads and eventually forced Waterthorn to flee their home. The Rot follows them where they run, and after they cross a river and cut off the ground advancement of the Rot, it sends out a mist towards the fleeing faction, infecting their minds with gruesome and horrid hallucinations, and driving the Thorns mad. After the mist retreats, it leaves Waterthorn scattered and torn apart with the refugees forced to live a life of solitary or joining one of the three remaining factions, shredding the once strong faction into nothing but a whisper of what it once was. As well, it takes Amias with it, seemingly snatching the recently appointed Gurun from where he stood and taking him without leaving a trace of where he may have gone.
Thus, the Song becomes a harmony heard only by three.
