On this page you will find a brief synopsis of all of the deities that once or currently exist in some realm of the Valley. All of these deities are real, regardless of which factions worship or acknowledge them.
Each faction will have their own pages/details/specifics about the Aspect(s)/God(s) that they worship, this is just meant to serve as a quick information source to help establish the lore and culture of the Valley. This does not go into any extensive detail about the timeline, their individual stories, or any faction-specific culture/beliefs/customs.
Currently, due to the Aspect War and the events following it, unless stated otherwise the Aspects are currently DORMANT, or DECEASED and are not active.
Each faction may acknowledge or worship the different Aspects and Gods, or they may do neither. Given the several thousand years between the events here and current day in the group, many Gods and Aspects have gone forgotten by certain factions as they turned to worship or acknowledge only those that have settled in their lands, or none at all.
Acknowledges: This means that the listed faction knows of the Aspect/God, and those raised within these cultures more likely would have heard some stories about them/know at least of their name. They do not however have any customs or beliefs built around the worship of the Aspect/God. You can still write your character knowing about these Aspects/Gods regardless of where they currently are if they would have some backstory/personal experience with them (without deviating from the knowledge here), and also explore the option of your character wanting to learn more about these deities they may not know much about (or maybe sharing about their deities to others…. Though caution should be used as not everyone may be receptive to hearing about other deities).
Worships: Pretty straight forward what this means. These factions actively worship the Aspect/God through prayer, offerings, customs, celebrations, etc. They are a part of the culture and foundation of their faction.
To learn more in depth about some of these Aspects/Gods and how they play a role in the different cultures and belief systems of the factions of the valley, click the buttons below to go to each faction's belief pages:
The Aspects are considered the oldest deities of the Valley. Most of them were created along with the Valley, born alongside its creation.
None of the Aspects are currently active, or have proper access to those within the physical world. During the Aspect War and the events after, all of the Aspects are now dormant, deceased, or trapped within the spiritual realms.
The Aspects are generally known across the entire Valley. Stories of old passed down through generations about these Aspects, and while not worshiped in each faction, most have general knowledge about their stories.

He/They | Aspect of Time & The Seasons
Status: Dormant | Location: Deep in the Valley below Timberhold
Musical Theme: Purified Dragon - Legend of Zelda BotW
Acknowledges Kairos: Timberhold, Eirmuir, Goldenwind
Worships Kairos: Timberhold
Kairos was the first Aspect to settle into the Valley. His body was made of wood and winding roots and branches. He was not the largest of the Aspects, but he was strong and sturdy.
Kairos is often depicted as a dragon without wings (similar to an Eastern Chinese dragon style). He cannot fly, and walks along the Valley’s ground, blending in with the trees.
Much like the roots of a tree, which are seemingly chaotic and uncontrolled in the directions they twist and turn, Kairos’s moves were always calculated and planned, moving with the intention to provide for the future of the Valley like the roots seek out nutrients for the longevity of its parent tree.
Kairos was responsible for ensuring the Valley continued to progress in its ever evolving ecosystem. While not an actual leader, he continuously watched over the Valley to ensure everyone maintained its balance. He was also the one to introduce the changing of the seasons.
Kairos himself can be seen as either cruel or forgiving. With him comes warmer weather, longer days, and the hope of a brighter future. However, with his responsibility of ensuring the Valley maintains its balance, it would sometimes paint him as the one responsible for the destruction Man caused in some narratives, blaming Kairos’ lack of action and control for being what caused the decay of the Valley.
Kairos’ slumber was set upon himself after he forced the remaining Aspects into a state of dormancy following the Aspect War, and he remains deep below the Valley in the current day Timberhold region.
Within Timberhold, the Old Oak is a symbol of Kairos’ sleeping power beneath their paws, the large tree having sprouted from the roots of Kairos.

He/They | Aspect of The Rebirth & Renewal, Sun & Fire
Status: Dormant | Location: Deep in the deserts of Goldenwind
Musical Theme: Ashes on the Fire - Attack on Titan
Acknowledges Phoenix: Goldenwind, Timberhold
Worships Phoenix: Goldenwind
The Phoenix was one of the most powerful Aspects in the Valley.
Forged from flame and rock, Phoenix was made of cracked lava and burning-molten flame. Often depicted as a crocodile-like beast whose back constantly burned, being able to sprout fiery wings from their flame and take flight.
Assumed to be an aspect of destruction, many outside of Goldenwind see Phoenix in a negative depiction while the sand dwellers see him as a balanced soul. Being the destroyer and creator of Goldenwind itself, he turned sea into sand with the rage of his flames and forever shaped the faction for generations to come.
Phoenix never bent to any power, walking alone and tending to keep himself in isolation in comparison to the other Aspects.
Drawn to the seas of Goldenwind because it cooled his ever burning flame, Phoenix met Tellura and like water to flame the two instantly balanced the other out. Becoming lovers connected by their shared affection for the sea and ever present connection between their souls.
Hearing that Tellura had fallen, lost in the very seas that connected them, Phoenix raged. Inconsolable or uncontrollable by any of the other Aspects he searched endlessly in the seas for her, unable to completely submerge himself. He burned the water endlessly day and night, laying waste to the waters until it became nothing but golden sand. Only then did he find Telluras remains partially buried in gold and stripped of flesh. All that remained of her was bone, unknowingly drawing him to fall for Essos’ trap.
Upon discovery Phoenix raged once more, creating all the intricate caverns in the desert spanning for miles and stretching deep beneath the earth. Burning and melting until his flame grew quiet, barely a flicker.
Phoenix current lays dormant, buried in the deep part beneath the sands of Goldenwind. Surrounded by hard rock ash and pooling lava. Forcibly putting himself into a deep slumber of his own doing before Kairos had for the others.
Having not participated in the Aspect War, Phoenix has no knowledge of what transpired all those years ago.

She/They | Aspect of Moon & Water
Status: Deceased | Location: Deep in the deserts of Goldenwind
Musical Theme: The Heavens Throw Treasure - Blue Eyed Samurai
Acknowledges Tellura: Waterthorn, Goldenwind, Eirmuir, Timberhold
Worships Tellura: Previously Waterthorn
Tellura was one of the older Aspects in the Valley.
Soft yet scaly, Tellura was the beauty of the Aspects. Keeping herself well kept and glittered in a spray of soft colors. She had soft fins lining her head, back and tail that mimicked feathers. While having no wings she could still take flight and swim exceptionally through the seas.
Tellura tended to keep to herself, shrouded in loneliness for the Moon could not rise if the Sun was still out. While some creatures fancied the night, most slumbered and all usually lay quiet in the hours she roamed.
Always drawn to the water through her creations of waterfalls and rivers, she finally found the seas of Goldenwind. There she met the Phoenix and for that moment the two were intertwined in a dance of balance and love. Many believed Tellura was incapable of love, yet, she and Phoenix shared a bond so incredibly deep their connection mimicked the Sun & Moon.
Seen has many different depictions, both positive and negative, Tellura’s true nature was never truly understood.
Being an Aspect of the night, Tellura was always watchful in her loneliness among the darkness. Having spotted Essos one faithful night consuming a soul, the rot stemming from the Aspect could not only be seen but felt.
Following her discovery Essos took notice of Tellura’s presence and did not take kindly to being found out. Seeking to hide any news of their transgressions from the other Aspects, Tellura’s soul was immediately targeted. Essos attacked, consuming Tellura’s soul not only to further their power but to keep their secrets.
Thus, killed by Essos, Tellura plummeted into the seas she so loved and adored so dearly. Lost deep within the waves that swallowed her as she sunk further into the dark abyss of the deep.
Tellura’s remains are resting in the Deep Desert of Goldenwind, they are large in height and width - pieces of the skeleton stretching partially across the desert. Her skull sits above the sands, the mouth and eyes being used as entrances into the Serpent Bone Temple.

They/Them | Aspect of Life & Death
Status: Deceased | Location: Unknown
Musical Theme: Sentinel I - The Last Guardian OST
Acknowledges Essos: Goldenwind, Eirmuir - Previously Gaelkin
Worships Essos: None
Essos was originally only the Aspect of Life. They were responsible for guiding new souls to the Valley and blessing new families.
Essos prompted the Aspect War with the presentation of their idea to expand the domain of the Aspects, claiming that everyone should benefit from what the Aspects had to offer, not just the Valley.
Essos began to destroy the Valley, and became the Aspect of Death.
Essos is thought to resemble light and shadows. They did not have a defined physical form. When they were simply responsible for bringing new life, they were commonly associated with a beam of light, a beacon of hope for the future, within the Valley. After becoming the Aspect of Death, they are seen as a shadow, lurking behind every corner and watching for every opportunity possible to bring about a creature’s demise. The lights and shadows would manipulate where they were, indicating their presence.
When Essos began their destruction, a part of them separated itself and rooted within the spiritual realms of the Valley. This created the old Aspect of Spirits (Now Aspect of Dreams & Nightmares), Estis.
During the Aspect War, Essos was slain by the other Aspects. Their grave is in an unknown location, but it is somewhere buried deep in the Valley.
At this time, Essos is considered a cursed Aspect, corrupted by their own greed. No faction has worshiped their power, and they have always been the villain in stories passed down through generations.

She/They | Aspect of Beasts
Status: Dormant | Location: Central eastern portion of the Valley
Musical Theme: Zoltraak - Frieren
Acknowledges Ferus: None
Worships Ferus: None
Ferus was given domain over the creatures and beasts of the Valley. She is responsible for ensuring their good health and that they follow the rules of balance with only hunting the sick or weak.
Ferus can be compared to “Mother Nature”
Ferus is usually considered to be very soft and kind - unless you go against her ideas of balance, one may face her wrath.
She was very strongly against Essos in the Aspect War, and was the first to call for Essos’ execution due to the destruction they had brought upon her beloved creatures.
Prior to falling dormant, Ferus often enjoyed traveling with her creatures and lived amongst them in the Valley.
Ferus was the smallest of the Aspects by choice, choosing to walk amongst the beasts as different types of animals. Her colors and markings would always blend in amongst the creature she was with, but her eyes would distinctly glow regardless of the time of day.
When Ferus fell dormant, she fell into an incredibly scarred and destroyed land of the Valley that did not see proper healing for hundreds of years. Due to this, Ferus is forgotten about despite the large role she played in initiating the execution of Essos.

She/Her | Aspect of Dreams and Nightmares
Status: Hidden | Location: The Spirit Realms, hiding from Corvus
Musical Theme: Moonlight Guide Us - Artemis Solo, Hades 2 Extended
Acknowledges Estis: Eirmuir, Goldenwind
Worships Estis: Eirmuir
Estis is the newest Aspect, and unlike the others, is considered a spiritual Aspect. She resides within the spiritual realms where her power is strongest, and does not often step into the physical world.
Estis was created when a piece of Essos separated itself after the Aspect of Life became corrupted. It is thought that Estis was the last remaining bit of light left in Essos fleeing the old Aspect before it too became corrupted.
Estis was overthrown by Corvus, the fractured aspect who now reigns in their place. Having taken over the mantle of the Aspect for Dreams and Nightmares, Estis often finds themselves battling the corrupter to reach the mind of dreamers. Her messages to the living, often meant to help guide them to understand their destinies.
Estis was not overly active in the Aspect War, considered a newborn but a supporter of Ferus and Kairos, being eyes in the background for the pair.
Often resembles a softly pale glowing fox-like beast in dreams, though warm and inviting, an air of anxiety laces her interactions with the living. Often flocked by birds, her messengers.
Though Essos began to destroy the Valley, and ultimately was slain, soft eerie singing can be heard when one unknowingly nears Essos’ grave. Said to be Estis, watching over the deceased Aspects' grounds.
It is said that Estis misses being able to linger in the awoken world, so she dream-hops to see what the living have experienced.

They/Them | Aspect of Spirits
Status: Trapped | Location: The Spiritual Realms, unable to access the physical world due to the connections being severed
Musical Theme: Gaunter O’ Dim - Witcher 3
Acknowledges Corvus: Eirmuir, Goldenwind
Worships Corvus: Previously Gaelkin
Corvus is the newest of the Aspects, emerging in the aftermath of the Aspect War, feeding off the gloom and chaos that the Valley fell into.
Though called an Aspect, Corvus is considered a false Aspect. All of the Aspects were created in an effort to maintain the physical and spiritual balance of the Valley. Corvus simply is a being of shadow and despair and spreads these where they go. They do not seek to balance anything, and instead take where they can. However, they still hold a similar level of power to the next newest Aspect, Estis, and as such as earned this title.
Corvus fought for control over the domain of Spirits, removing the previous true Aspect - Estis who turned to dreams, fracturing responsibility from those who control the dead. They were oppressive and deceitful in their bid for hailing command.
Considered to be something that preys on souls lost by Essos since becoming deceased and loving governing of the dead, guiding them into some '‘new beginning’’. They have no physical body, being they are the Aspect of Spirits - they take ‘form’ loosely in that of eyes.
They hunt Estis within the spirit realms, being an aggressor and cruel - they want sole control of these realms.
Corvus cropped up after Essos’ death, though being an Aspect - is not well known, as they did not participate in the Aspect War at all. They hid in the shadows and fed on the despair and lost spirits.
The Gods & Deities listed below are those that were created by the Aspects taking pieces of themselves to craft them. Many consider them the "children" of the Aspects. Due to this, many of the Gods share similar abilities/reigning over similar things, as they may share a similar Aspect piece.
Following the events of the Aspect War, the Gods dispersed themselves around the Valley. They do not match the power of their Aspect "parents", so many settled in different lands together to assist in healing the land. It was here that the factions were created, and beliefs were created around the Gods & Deities who settled in these lands.
Unlike the Aspects that are generally more widely known about, the Gods are less known due to remaining within their settled lands. However, through sharing stories and cultures, some factions may be aware of the different Gods of the Valley.

He/They | God of the Wilds, Forests, Beasts, & Death
Status: Alive | Location: Timberhold
Musical Theme: Finding Meadow - The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon
Acknowledges Avros: Timberhold
Worships Avros: Timberhold
After the Aspects fell dormant, Avros was drawn to the land where Kairos rests, modern day Timberhold.
Avros is perceived as the protector of the Wilds. He was quickly adopted as the deity of the forests by the creatures inhabiting his land.
Avros is seen as a four legged winged creature. He has feathers and scales adorning his body with large wings and scales that come to a beak-like shape on his jaw. His colors are undefined, seeming to morph them to whatever his surroundings may be.
Though associated with Death, Avros is seen more as a shepherd and a guide for souls rather than something cursed or negative.
Avros for a time preferred to walk amongst the creatures of the Wilds, learning the same talents as Ferus in shapeshifting. After the chaos of Ruven fell upon the Wilds, Avros prefers to keep their physical distance from the Valley. They will still however send godly signs and interventions to their followers.
After Tovin’s imprisonment, Avros called upon the other Gods of the Valley for help with watching over Timberhold and the Wilds. A God from the sands agreed to help and the two took pieces of themselves to create Itris.
Currently, Avros chooses to stay within the skies with Itris, and is rarely if ever seen traveling along the forest floors like he once had.

He/Him | God of the Storms, Sky, Sun & Moon
Status: Imprisoned | Location: The Abyss
Musical Theme: The Demon God - Princess Mononoke
Acknowledges Tovin: Timberhold
Worships Tovin: None
Shortly after the Aspect War, Tovin was quick to follow Avros with where he went, clinging to him much like a younger sibling.
Tovin was tasked with assisting with the Wilds, providing them with night and day, and the rain and weather needed to supply the flora and make it flourish.
Tovin is a two-legged winged creature whose colors resemble a deep, stormy blue. There are many jagged edges to his scales and wings, like that of lightning. At the base of his tail are a couple of tendrils that extend like thinner tails. His face has a thick layer of scales that shimmer like polished metal, like a shield. There is also a single horn that extends from his nose and up towards the back of his head.
Despite playing an equally important role in the protection of the Wilds, Tovin was not worshipped as highly as Avros. This led to Tovin slowly driving himself mad with the desire to earn the same amount of attention that the Timbers gave to Avros, and he slowly gained more and more power.
In an effort to show his newfound power, Tovin manipulated the soul of an unborn Timber, Ruven. Ruven’s eyes reflected the Godly touch upon his soul, mimicking the paleness and brightness of the full moon Tovin was responsible for. Though no direct relation, Ruven is considered Tovin’s “son”.
Catering to the chaos Ruven cast upon the Wilds, Tovin is considered responsible for the death and destruction that followed his “son”.
Avros and Tovin battled, and it ended with a brief tear of the Abyss showing itself in the southeastern portions of the Wilds. Avros took this opportunity to push Tovin in before the tear disappeared, imprisoning the Tempest in the realm.
Tovin’s might can still be felt in what is now known as Stormcry Hills, where an eternal storm rages, always visible to Timberhold members as a reminder of the old God, but never able to reach them properly.

She/They | God of Sun & Moon, Sky, Weather, Life
Status: Alive | Location: Timberhold
Musical Theme: Mipha’s Theme - Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Acknowledges Itris: Timberhold
Worships Itris: Timberhold
Itris came to be as a combination of pieces of Avros and a God from the sands to step up to the roles Tovin was stripped of.
Itris is a very playful God. Childlike in her demeanor, she encourages her worshipers to enjoy the little pieces of light within their lives. In times where necessary though, Itris can still put on a more mature and serious front, though the situation usually needs to be pretty dire in order for that to occur.
If one pays attention to the clouds, they may see them take on certain shapes as Itris plays about them. They can be seen as signs from Itris, or simply as acknowledging the presence of the God.
Itris is a two-legged winged creature. She is very narrow and slender in her build, and her wings have a sort of diffuse translucency to them that allow sunlight or moonlight to softly shine through. It is said with this, she can direct their light to provide signs to her followers. She is generally blue in color to match with the sky’s colors. Itris also has large “fin” like structures that come from the back of her head down her neck a bit.
Itris is considered a counterpoint to her “father”, her childlike nature often being associated with life. Itris is often prayed to for new life, both in flora and fauna.
Though considered a God like any other listed here, Itris seems to lack a bit of strength to her powers comparatively. Her source did not come directly from any of the Aspects and is secondary, weakening her connection at times to the Valley.
Itris remains in the sky at the request of Avros, fearing if she gets too close personally with the Timbers, she may fall down the same path as Tovin. She makes herself known through dreams and godly signs given to her followers.

Acknowledges Moher: Eirmuir
Worships Moher: Eirmuir
It is believed that when the Aspects fell silent due to becoming dormant, was when Moher appeared. Created from a falling star that crashed into Eirmuirs land. Which is said to be proven with an impact spot which can still be found near the Rolling Hills.
As well, Moher brings storms to harbor, settling their damage as well as soothing wildfires. Her love is not just connected to mammals, but to the smallest flower beneath her watchful gaze.
In the silence, when one is sat atop of Mohers' watch, there is said to be soft humming in tune of a song that only the heart knows.

She/Her | God of Spirits & The Dying
Status: Alive| Location: Eirmuir
Musical Theme: Stella’s Departure - Max LL
Acknowledges Aurora: Eirmuir
Worships Aurora: Eirmuir
Unlike her counterpart, Cyaroeth, there is true love and care for the dead and lost spirits in Auroras warmth.
It is believed that she was formed after the Aspect War, when many wandering spirits who splintered off needed guidance as they no longer had any home and were lost.
To Valleyfolk who are dying, often in their last moments they speak of a creature of warm blue light shaped in the form of a winged doe with three eyes resting beside them.

They/Them | Deity of the Ocean
Status: Active [Harmless] | Location: Eirmuir
Musical Theme: Song of the Sea - Cartoon Saloon
Acknowledges Pook: Eirmuir
Worships Pook: Eirmuir
Moher granted Pook new life, born a child destined to die - they were granted new life.
Conisdered shy, but interested in Valleyfolk, they are spotted in their glowing white seal form following the living at a distance.
Pook is one who will guide others from the raging waves if one is unfortunate to have fallen into the anger waters aiding them back to the shore for safety.
For Future Factions:
The Aspects are locked to who we have provided. They cannot be changed, added to, removed, etc. You are still free to build a culture/religion off of them, however.
The Gods, however, can be added to. If you have a faction idea that involves their own unique Gods, we figure this would allow for an easier way to incorporate them into the world religion. There are many unclaimed lands in the Valley, so there are certainly Gods yet to be uncovered from years of not being acknowledged or worshiped. The only requirement is the Gods must be tied back to the Aspects, and cannot come from an outside source.
