Advance Mapping

Before you start this part, I urged you to read the previous part on general mapping first. The information in the previous chapter that maybe require to further understand this chapter here.

Now that you have probably got the hang of solving and hunting on maps. Its time to introduce the advance part of mapping. This part has a few sections due to its huge amounts of explanation and calculations too. So please bear with me.

  1. Rare Map Dust
    1. Dust cost
  2. Hunter types:
    1. Map Owner
    2. helper
    3. Leecher
    4. Duster
    5. Sniper
  3. Map selling
    1. Mapping Groups
    2. Looking for Dusters / Dusting own maps
    3. Looking For Leechers
  4. Round Robins

Rare Map Dust a.k.a RMD

  • You may have notice by now, that all maps can be dusted. When maps are dusted they provide double the amount of rewards than the maps usually provide when you complete them.
  • Dusting maps also allows you to have a chance at getting rarer items like Slayer Scrolls, which can be worth a lot if you sell slots for them.
  • Dusting maps also increases the price of leech slots or the price of an entire map.
  • However it is important to take note that not all maps are worth dusting. So be sure to ask around or look up the rewards before dusting the map.
  • Where to get RMD?
    • Premium market - real money
    • In-game market - using gold
    • Opening maps (kind of rare)
    • Trading groups - using Super|Brie+
    • Note: Don't go on an opening spree, its not that easy LOL.
  • RMD prices can fluctuate a lot depending on seasons and the game changes. So take note of the price and cost of dusting a map.
  • Dust cost is usually counted in Super|Brie+. To find the price of a dust in Super|Brie+, simply take the price of Rare Map Dust in gold from the market and divide by the price of Super|Brie+ in gold from the market. Here is the formula:
    • Dust price in Super|Brie+ = Price of Rare Map Dust / Price of Super|Brie+
    • Eg. Dust price = 3,059,922 / 15,143 = 202 Super|Brie+ per Rare Map Dust.
  • The dust cost is usually then divided into the number of slots. This is done so that the dust cost price can be include in the leech fee.

Hunter Types

  • In MouseHunt mapping groups such as Mapmeister, Mapology, etc. There are a few types on hunters that exist in which you should know.
  • These hunters are split into few types:
    1. Map owner
      • The person who opens the map or receives a map from someone who opens it for them.
      • Only person able invite others to the map.
      • They are the person that decides how this map should be worked, designates the last mouse, decides whether to work the map with helpers or whether to sell leech slots.
      • They can decide whether to dust the map themselves or request map participants decide about whether to dust a map.
      • Mapowner may share snipe cost or dust cost, if all are helpers on the map. if a mapowner decides to sell leech slots, they often do not share costs with the helpers. they may decide to reward helpers with a gift or some reward but they are under no obligation to do so.
    2. helper
      • Someone who is invited to join a map who works the map alongside the mapowner.
      • They are active and don't work the map casually. They are suppose to read all the map notes, especially about a last mouse designated by the mapowner.
      • Helpers should know if the mapowner intends to sell leech slots or how many helpers the mapowner intends to invite.
      • The helper should discuss any locations or mice that they cannot catch that are on the map. There may be rank or location requirements for helpers.
      • Helpers share in the rewards for the map.
      • Helpers agree to the terms of the mapowner about the map.
      • This kind of hunter is also subjected to sharing the map dust cost. The agreed dust cost sharing is between the map owner and the helper.
      • The mapowner is not subjected to share the leech sales to helpers and if the mapowner does share in the event, it is out of the map owner's generosity.
    3. Leecher
      • A person who does not hunt at all but are invited to share in the reward.
      • Often a leecher pays an agreed fee to the mapowner and share in the map rewards.
      • Mapowners usually advertise for leechers when the map is complete all but the last mouse.
      • Sometimes the leecher will voluntarily help to catch the last mouse once the map is filled or the map owner can offer a small refund fee for the leecher in helping to catch the last mouse. Again, this is subjected to the mapowner's generosity and agreements.
    4. Duster
      • A person who dust the map.
      • Maybe a helper too.
      • Maybe a leecher too by dusting a map to get rewards instead of a paying leech fee.
    5. Sniper
      • A person who is paid to hunt a specific mice on the map for the mapowner.
      • He/she should leave after hunting that mice.
      • Most of the time, this is a service that requires the mapowner to send a fee. The sniper catches the mouse and leaves the map.
      • Snipers do not share in the map rewards.
      • Generally snipers have a time limit to hunt the mice, usually its 24 hours for mapping groups like Mapmeister.
  • Is it important to note that if the map owner invites you to his/her map, you have a personal responsibility as a hunter to the map owner to do your best in solving the map. This includes using Super|Brie+ if needed to and hunting low attraction mice. Don't hunt all the easy mice and leave the hard ones to the map owner.
  • Should you not do your best in helping to hunt on the map, the map owner reserves every right to ask you to leave the map. The worse that could happen is that the map owner will not look forward to inviting you to his/her map anymore in the future and you do not want that right? No you don't. This could bring bad reputation for you as a hunter in mapping groups. So play nice, be kind and helpful.

Map Selling

  • Once you have a nearly completed map its time to sell the map and earn some Super|Brie+. Remember about the last mouse that was discuss in the last chapter? This is where it comes into play.
  • Hunters like to leech maps that have an easy last mouse or two as they do not have to wait long for the map to end.
  • Before selling your map slots, first you need to check for the price of the maps. You can do so by checking past map prices on mapping groups. This will give you an idea on how much you should charge for the fee.

Mapping Groups

  • There are a lot of mapping groups in MouseHunt. To avoid being scammed, I suggest sticking to the ones I have been in. So far I have not have any trouble finding leechers or dusters.
  • Mapping groups:
    • Mapmeisters
    • MH Mapology
    • Love of Maps for MouseHunt [LMM]

Looking for Dusters / Dusting own maps

  • If you decide to use a Rare Map Dust on your map, remember to include the dust fee into the leech price so that you are able to get back the Rare Map Dust cost.
  • If you do not use a Rare Map Dust, its fine too. You can look for a duster to dust your map.
  • To look for duster, simply post in mapping groups that you are looking for dusters. You may need to include the difficulty of you map so that it will help improve your chances of finding Dusters.
    • Eg. LF > 1 Duster for Hard Chrome map
    • If the price of your map is more than the price of a Rare Map Dust, the duster may have top up some Super|Brie+ to cover the additional leech fee
    • If the price of your map is less than the price of a Rare Map Dust, then you may have to refund the Duster some Super|Brie+.

Looking For Leechers

  • Now that you have a dusted map, its time to look for map leechers.
  • Since you already know what a leecher is, I will skip that part. Else go read what is a leecher above.
  • To look for leechers on your map, simply post in mapping groups that you are looking for leechers including the leech fee of your map. You may need to include the difficulty of you map so that it will help improve your chances of finding leechers.
    • Eg. LF > 4 leechers @ 20 SB+ for Rare/Non-rare Arduous Relic Hunter map
    • LF - Looking For
  • Once you have found your leechers, invite to your maps and they will pay you the leech fee.
    • Note: Do not hunt until all map slots have been filled.
  • Once you have collected all your leech fees and invited all the leechers in, its time to end the map. Hunt the last mouse to end the map.
    • Note: Scamming in MouseHunt mapping groups is a SERIOUS offence. You could be banned from the group and all other mapping groups.
  • Mapping groups generally have a rule where you need to end in map in 24 hours so do try to end the map within that time frame.

Round Robins

  • Round robin is a way to do maps in a group. This method is usually involves up to a max of 5 or 6 hunters depending on the map.
  • Round robins is done with the same kind of map for a couple of times for example Chrome maps.
  • Round robins are usually done to obtain map rewards instead of selling leech slots. But additional slot can be sold as leech slots to cover for dust cost
  • Round robins require each hunter to have their own map(at least 1) and a Rare Map Dust(optional depending on the round robin group).
  • Here is a scenario to further explain it better:
    • 3 hunters: A, B, and C
    • Hunter A opens a map and dust the map. Hunter A also invites hunter B and C to the map.
    • Once hunter A's map is done, Hunter B will open his/her map and dust it. Then Hunter B will invite hunter A and C to the map.
    • Once hunter B's map is done, Hunter C will open his/her map and dust it. Then Hunter C will invite hunter A and B to the map.

Additional Notes

  • It is important to note that not all maps are not worth opening. This is because they either take too long to complete or the rewards are not worth the time taken to complete the maps.

Some of these maps:

    1. Labyrinth map
    2. Fungal Cavern map
