Our bodies are complex and our muscles are no different. A mixture of different muscle fibres exist that are optimised for different types of exercise. Perhaps you might learn which type predominants in your body.

Something to look at...

Different sporting activities benefit from different types of skeletal muscle fibres. The muscle fibres of sprinters will typically contain more fast-twitch musle fibres; whereas athletes engaged in more endurance sports, e.g. weightlifting, will benefit from a higher proportion of slow-twitch muscle fibres.

This is because the different types of skeletal muscle fibres possess different structural features, as highlighted in the table below.
