Effective Instruction

All students have rigorous learning experiences because the school ensures objective-driven daily lessons, classroom routines, and formative assessments that yield the data necessary for teachers to reflect, adjust, and deliver instruction that meets the needs of each student.

ESF Lever 5: All students have rigorous learning experiences because the school ensures objective-driven daily lessons, classroom routines, and formative assessments that yield the data necessary for teachers to reflect, adjust, and deliver instruction that meets the needs of each student.

In remote learning environments, it can be more difficult to feel connected and understand the needs, motivation, and engagement of learners. When designing and improving for effective instruction, educators and leaders must optimize for student-centered learning, high motivation and engagement, and a strong culture with clear communications and high expectations. To do this, they must put in place research-informed practices that: ensure the platforms they use are accessible, well organized, and easy to use; provide active, mastery-focused instruction that is rigorous and aligned to grade level; and, build commitment and engagement through connection to others and personalization to individual needs and interests.
