Quickly adjusting to and improving remote learning requires a strong cultural foundation of trust, shared understanding of vision, goals, and expectations, and effective support for holistic development and the needs of students and staff. Creating this remote school culture requires frequent communication between families and staff, access to technology and connectivity, and inclusion of staff, student, and family input around vision, mission, and procedures for executing. Further, given that student learning at home requires greater self-direction, teachers will need to exert additional attention and effort to build connection with and amongst students and families, as well as develop strategies for ensuring student support services are made available and accessible.
