High-Quality Curriculum

All students have access to TEKS-aligned, guaranteed and viable curriculum, assessments, and resources to engage in learning at appropriate levels of rigor.

ESF Lever 4: All students have access to a TEKS-aligned, guaranteed and viable curriculum (GVC), assessments, and resources to engage in learning at appropriate levels of rigor.

High-quality, TEKS-aligned instructional materials (curricular content and assessments) are critical to learning success, but even more so in remote environments where students are often navigating materials without support from an in-person teacher. Given this, leaders must ensure their existing curriculum can be effectively used in digital formats; if not, it must be adapted and/or replaced to meet remote instructional needs. Further, given students may have different levels of readiness and mastery or, depending on learning modality, pace through learning materials at different rates, it’s critical that all materials are clearly organized around standards and stored in a central location to focus student attention on learning rather than content navigation. Finally, when planning for assessments and collecting data online, it’s important to ensure student privacy and accuracy.
