Gulltures (genus Vomituslarum, vomiting gull) are scavenging birds descended from seagulls and can be found worldwide. These birds can be found in open areas in every environment and usually serve as a cleanup crew.
Biology
Gulltures are fairly large birds with a 7 foot wingspan. Their flight muscles are weak and they rely on the wind rather than flapping.
They have a completely bald head and crop area for digging into corpses as well as other purposes. They have strong beaks that can crack bone and a mouth that can open wide enough to swallow an animal the size of a small dog. They have very acidic stomach acid strong enough to dissolve bone, which they do eat along with any other nutritious parts of an animal.
Their feathers on the body are white while the wing feathers are black in order to absorb heat for killing bacteria. Their beaks are still yellow with some red spots near the nostrils.
Gulltures are able to puke up the very acidic, foul-smelling insides of their stomachs for a distance of up to 8 feet in order to fight off predators or each other. This can also be done from the opposite end and go up to a distance of up to 6 feet
Gulltures are fairly sexually dimorphic with the males being slightly larger and way more colorful. The males have bright wattles at the back of their beaks and a small brightly colored comb on the top of their heads, they also have a small dewlap on their chin that swells with blood to appear a red color.
Behavior
Gulltures are highly social and live in colonies of about 500. These colonies congregate for mating season. Gulltures are monogamous and bird divorce rates are extremely low. When a breeding pair is formed, the male does an elaborate dance and shows off his bright colors to prove he's healthy. If two males are fighting over a females attention, they spit vomit at each other in what is basically a disgusting gun fight in order to try and burn each other. The male is highly protective of the territory where the female nests, when another gullture encroaches on it he will shoot vomit or feces at it to warn it away.
Gulltures are groundbreeders and their nests are made of any sort of material available. Females lay about 2-3 eggs per clutch and both parents put a lot of time and effort into caring for the chicks.
