Living in the Amazon rainforest, the hairy winged moth (genus pruritupilo) are mostly dark grey with black patterns along its wings. They are descended from Grease Moths. Like most moths they’re nocturnal and feed on nectar, sap, or juices from fruit. However, the strangest part of this moth is it's self defense mechanism. When threatened, they’ll shed tiny hairs from their wings, getting into either the eyes, nose, or mouth of a predator. it causes an irritable itch and sometimes an allergic reaction.
