Hellgroves
Hellgroves are a variety of forest found in eastern North America and East Asia. They are entirely dominated by larger descendants of the tree of heaven, now known as the tree of hell. These trees reach up to 75 feet tall. They can also create endless clones of themselves via suckers, just like their ancestors, which may sometimes result in entire superorganisms which span for miles.
Tyranniflies
Tyranniflies (Rubropestis cieslaki) are a species of insect found throughout the hellgroves. They are descended from the highly invasive spotted lanternfly. They look like their ancestors, save for the fact that their wings are larger and way stronger. They live on as well as eat the helltrees.
They act just like the lanternflies of today do, devouring everything they see. They also exhibit swarming behaviors, with every member of the species flying together in a cohesive mass through the hellgroves and eating everything they can. They eat until there is nothing left, breed, and set out on a very long journey. After the eggs are laid, the swarm embarks on a transoceanic flight to the hellgroves in Asia, keeping themselves aloft on oceanic thermal drafts. After they eat all they can there, they'll return and pick up the adult offspring they left behind, then repeating the cycle again.
