Geometry and Forms: Architectural Designs, Elements, and Principles
Tutor: Mr Chern Li young
Project task and overview:
Project 1 is a group project consisting of 6 parts and it's the first step towards the architectural design process. In this project, we are given a task to make tattoo stamps that portrays the elements and principles chosen. It is divided into 6 parts where each board will be developed and improved until the final design and models.
Part 1 (Sketch Geometry)
For part 1, students are required to sketch tattoo stamps for each basic design element. Such as circle, square, triangle, and combinations of all three shapes. The sketches are to be made with the elements and principles are chosen.
Part 2 (Draw Geometry)
For part 2, students are to improve the sketches from part 1 by using appropriate drawing tools and measurements
Part 3 (Geometry Composition)
For this part, students have applied different compositions selected from the project brief and use them to further develop the design in part 2
Part 4 (Composition Extrusion)
This stage will require one chosen design from part 3 and using the design to develop it into 6 different models based on the descriptive words from part 3.
Part 5 (Cube Manipulation)
For part 5, we were required to make 6 cube model that is section into 3 different types based on the same design elements and principles use in part 4
Part 6 (Moving Mass)
In this part, the group members decide to choose one design to develop from part 5 and produce it into 3 different models, and producing a diagram that depicts the process of the design process.

Reflection:
This project, was very challenging for me and my groupmates as this is our first project in architecture. I was struggling for most of the parts as I had never taken design or art-based subjects that talk about compositions, elements, and principles. I never understood what it means until the end of the project but as I progressed into project 3, I finally understood what all of project 1 is supposed to be.
For future projects of architecture design, I will hope to improve by understanding what the brief wants.
