Facade
On the Outskirts of the Settlement near where the Alloy Clan's Cabin lies, a mountain looms. It seems that centuries ago, there was a mine set up here. Although those days are long gone and the mountain remains relatively untouched in recent years. A few bits of ruined mining tools can be found.
A warning sign "Hunt at Own Risk - The Alloys" is hung near the front. And cobwebs hang on every surface.
A simple, yet effective set up for a thrilling experience.
Queue
As we are led into a dark cavernous room (the queue), we hear strange echoes throughout the tunnel, as dark strings hang in the narrow passageways, giving us the illusion there is some sort of large Spider Web nearby.
Ride System
The ride is a simple steel coaster very similar to Thunder Mountain. There are thrills, but nothing too intense for families to ride together. Although, the theming does add an extra level of excitement compared to it's classic counterpart. Leading to the ride almost feeling like a blend of the best parts of Thunder Mountain and Expedition Everest.
Ride-Through
Scene 1
As we board our vehicles, the loading platform is similar to that of an open cavernous space, as opposed to the previous narrow tunnels we traversed earlier. As the coaster dispatches, we are immediately going downhill into a banked drop, as we encounter various slimy Dark Crystal-esque puppet-like creatures, with no dialogue, omitting obscure sounds from the bowels of their stomachs. All of this happens as we climb the lift hill.
Scene 2
We are immediately thrown down into a pitch black dive as lights flash and the walls begin to cave in, only for our carts to make a mad dash escape outside from a nearby opening, as we are thrown out into the sunlight.
Scene 3
After being tossed around a bit outdoors, we find ourselves briefly in a dark cavern full of these same Dark Crystal esc puppet creatures, as they attempt to board our vehicles, only for us to escape again through a nearby opening, as we reach the final scene of the attraction.
Scene 4
During this final scene, we enter a narrow, pitch black tunnel, as our vehicle comes to a halt. At this point, we know something's up, as our vehicle begins to rumble and shake, only for animated spider legs to appear on both sides of the vehicle. This is our closest encounter with the mountain's menacing mutant, as the Spider ejects us from his cavern and into the sunlight, as we make our safe return to the loading station.
The attraction relies on fear of the unknown, and our storyline here is no exception. While there could be much more to explore in terms of backstory, the simplicity of the attraction's backstory will help keep it relevant for guests as time goes on, similar to that of the Matterhorn Bobsleds.
