Rebirth

The New Frontier

Welcome to the New Frontier!

Centuries ago, an experiment gone wrong caused this land to be ravaged by Electro-Radiation. Then, it was overtaken by great and terrifying Mutant Creatures.

But now, in the year 2929, nature is healing the land is safe to explore once more.

Well, "safe" might not be the right word as the Mutant Creatures still roam and the lingering effects of the Electro-Radiation renders a lot of modern technologies useless. But humans can now exist inside the fall out zone without either dying or becoming mutated so exploration (and possibly even setting up homesteads) is possible.

Rebirth is a Settlement set up in the ruins of Las Salvaje (a city once known for it's casinos, parties, and dedication to excess). Inside the Settlement there is relative safety and a bustling community full of those seeking to escape the fall out zone, those seeking to make a new life here, and those just passing through on their way to explore deeper into the wilds..

Beyond the walls of the Settlement lies the Outer Lands. At first glance it might seem like nature's wonderland where flora thrives and rolling hills create an idyllic landscape, but look closer and you'll see dangers around every corner as the Mutant Creatures still rule these lands and even the plant life poses unique threats.

This land might be in the far off future and full of ruins, Mutant Creatures, and other sci-fi/post-apocalyptic tropes. But it's heart is that of a new old West. The land is reborn and with it the metaphorical gold rush and Oregon Trail are reborn as well.

A new era of outlaws, gunslingers, trading posts, saloons, covered wagons, bandits, explorers, and nomads all set in the remnants of a Post-Apocalyptic Wasteland.

This is Rebirth: The New Frontier.

Detailed Backstory

In the not too distant future, The Coskun Corporation (Founded by descendants of the infamous Ottoman Admiral) would conduct an experiment that would change the world. For the worse.

They ignored the ancient warnings of the denizens of Motu Wairua and took the fantastical animals from that island and brought them to a lab in the Southwestern United States to perform experiments on them.

(The Island of Motu Wairua and Coskun are a part of the story of Adventure Atoll)

Remnants of their lab can be seen by careful observers in the queue for Attack of the Mutant Spider hinting at this part of the Story

The experiments go wrong. Partly due to the curse of Motu Wairua and partly due to the greedy Coskun Corporation's recklessness with radiation.

This caused the magical animals to become Mutant Creatures that ravaged the land. Plus, the experiments caused fallout similar to that of a nuclear meltdown covering the entire Southwestern United States. A bubble of Electro-Radiation covered the Fallout Zone cutting it off from the rest of the world. Walls surrounded the Fallout Zone Wastelands so the Mutant Creatures could not destroy the rest of the world for centuries.

Now, hundreds of years later in the year 2929, people are returning to the Wastelands. These lands are the New Frontier.

A large group travelling from the futuristic city of CenterCore have ventured deep into the Wastelands, but creatures have broken their transport leaving them stranded.

They can't call for help or contact Center Core since the Electro-Radiation renders much of their futuristic technology worthless.

This sets them back to Old West era equipment in many ways. Although some things are still functioning such as a few robots and some solar generators used to provide a bit of electricity. But most stuff is back more or less to the cowboy era.

The group has set up The Settlement of Rebirth in the ruins of Las Salvaje (A Casino City inspired by Las Vegas, although not directly based on it so there is freedom to change the landscape and icons).

The Outer Lands beyond the Settlement are dangerous and full of creatures. But they are also lovely as Nature is Healing and there are mountains and rivers and other beautiful sights.

The Alloy Clan has lived here for generations. As doomsday preppers, the Alloy Family survived the initial fallout and thrived in the post-apocalyptic wasteland setting up a small community of survivors based out of their cabin on the outskirts of the city. Although over the generations living with the Electro-Radiation, the Alloy Clan has mutated themselves. Still mostly human, but there are animal like features such as a tails and feline ears or arachnid claws.

The new Settlers are fully human and largely live in new homes built out of the ruins of the city. A whole community has been set up in the ruins and is starting to thrive! People in the Settlement usually tend to take simple names based on traits they admire. Hope, Luck, Skill, etc. They have worked out to build a city safe from the Mutant Creatures of the Outer Lands, but also one that they can enjoy life in!

Guests visiting are treated as fellow frontiersmen exploring the New Frontier. Whether they are just passing through, need supplies for their journey, or are looking for a place to stay: The Settlement of Rebirth serves the same role for the New Frontier as numerous cities along the Oregon Trail did in the Old West.

Some folks are trapped in the Settlements and want to go home as soon as they find a way to do it safely.

Others are now there by choice and like their new lives.

Even others wish to venture further out West (both metaphorically and literally).
