Pegasus the Flying Horse

Written by @D Hulk

Pegasus the Flying Horse is a variation on the Dumbo the Flying Elephant aerial carousel, themed to the lovable Pegasus horses from Fantasia’s Pastoral Symphony. Our attraction faces the Spring section, which best matches the ride’s bright pastel color scheme.

Sixteen baby Pegasus foals circle a colorful mechanical platform. These Pegasi appear in blue, pink, orange and yellow, with a single black Peter Pegasus serving as the most coveted ride vehicle. The central sphere bears willow leaf patterns and other design details from the animated sequence. Mother Pegasus watches over her young children on their first flight, perched in her nest atop the platform and shaded by a vibrantly red fantasy tree. Guests queue in Delphic Greek temples encircling the ride, admiring as it spins.

Music plays from Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony, with a different movement for each two minute flight. Water fountains dance around the sphere’s base, with playful changes in spray choreographed with the music. Young riders are welcome to soar as high or as low as they please, thanks to on-ride controls inside each Pegasus. Every guest gets to live out their fantasy of flight in a soothing, friendly setting!
