What We See -

Journal Entry 2

Graphic representing the sense "see". An eye.

“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.”

-Henry David Thoreau

In your journal, reflect on your hike today and the collection of leaves that you found. See if you can identify the leaves you found, and label the sketches you made.

Reread the Thoreau quote at the beginning of this section. What lessons can you learn about life from your leaf collection today? How is a healthy forest like a healthy community? In what ways can you connect the diversity found in nature to the diversity of people and their lived experiences?
