Rag Dolls

There were two original rag dolls produced by Kenner. They were Strawberry Shortcake and Huckleberry Pie. They had vinyl heads and cloth bodies. Their heads were too heavy for their bodies so Kenner discontinued that style and started making all cloth dolls.

The second issue rag dolls were 15 inch (regular dolls) & 13 inch (babies). The order of their release was: Strawberry Shortcake, Raspberry Tart & Apple Dumpling (with turtle) first. Next Orange Blossom, Lemon Meringue, and Apricot (with bunny) were released. Next was Lime Chiffon and Cherry Cuddler. Lastly, in 1984, Mint Tulip was added to the line. She was the last of the rag dolls released and the hardest of those type to find.

JC Penney stores also issued two exclusive rag dolls that could be ordered from their mail-order catalog. They were Strawberry Shortcake and Huckleberry Pie. Both of these dolls had necklaces with rubber charms. Huck in this line is very hard to find and generally will run $75 or more.
