- applies to most non-WebEx sites as well
[1] Mute, Mute, Mute
why?
Assume the Host doesn't know about "mute all" and mute your line so others can't hear all those disgusting things you're doing.
[2] share your app - not your desktop
why?
- you have the "angry birds" icon on your desktop (or worse)
- see [3]
[3] preload your presentation - use webex to present not PowerPoint.
why?
- it avoids a code-decode step in the presentation which adds noise to the visual parts.
- it allows annotation and collaboration - is anyone ever figures out how to do that.
[4] use the "chat" to ask question.
why?
- you can ask questions without interrupting
- you can edit your question and make it into an actual sentence instead of a bunch of grunts
- the Host can have a helper to screen the questions and even ask for clarification if needed.
[5a] skip the webcam (mostly)
why?
- we still don't have enough bandwidth for good video - especially of multiple streams.
- you've got ketchup on your t-shirt and your eyes are bloodshot.
[5b] use the webcam - if you're using a whiteboard and writing stuff or showing a gadget or dead fish or stuff like that. (note: still's are always better resolution than videos.)
