1.0 Title: Data Sheet
2.0 Purpose: A Data Sheet is a form based summary of all important quantitative parameters associated with a definable separable element of an engineered system. The element defined may be a very complex system or it may be single part - but it will carry with it a collection of data that is the result of the engineering and procurement process, and which may be in a format which can be read by automated processes if formatted correctly and completely.
3.0 Recommended Usage: Data Sheets have traditionally been the purview of Instrumentation and Control specialists who use them to quickly and uniquely specify the dozens of instrument and control components which are required for a typical process plant. The hri07e version of the data sheets is a far broader application and is intended to be a data repository for all of the elements of an engineered system - from the highest level of super-system to the lowest identifiable part number - but in a format which uses the key codes and rules associated with them for computer access purposes.
4.0 Frequency: Data sheets are "living documents" but shouldn't be so alive that people who are using the data for other calculations are unaware that the data has changed. "Configuration Management" rules apply.
