Review
I needed Nevada one way or another, so I figured I'll use this race as a way to get back into marathons from the winter months!
This was my 33rd state, so I'm was officially 2/3 of the way done!
I drove up to Pittsburgh to fly to Las Vegas because I had a direct flights. If I flew out of Morgantown, I would have had one or two connecting flights (ugh).
The expo was at a hotel, and gambling is EVERYWHERE in Las Vegas, including hotels!
Of course we had to navigate the hotel just to get to the expo, and so we had to walk by a million slots and gambling opportunities
There was a place to buy merch. The other tables there were promoting various businesses
As with Revel races, we had to load up on a bus between 3:15-4:15 to ride 50 minutes up a mountain!
The top of Mt. Charleston was relatively warm since it was in the 50s, so I didn't need to bring extra clothes to stay warm
The race started and ran through the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest!
It was pretty, but there was zero shade and the sun was beating down on us the entire time
Everyone had 1 food/beverage tickets on their bib. We had the option to purchase an additional drink ticket at the expo along with a beer glass, so I took that option!
Since it was during Lent, I stayed with NAs! I was surprised there were 4 options for NAs
This was a good race since the course is downhill! However since we are running east into Las Vegas, we have to deal with the sun shining in our eyes.
I could see myself running the half marathon for this again, but not the marathon
I can see people use this course to BQ and/or PR
My quads felt like crap for the next 3-4 days since the elevation drop was approx 5000 ft.
