Review
This was held about 2 months after my mastopexy and brachioplasty, so I couldn't properly train
Fortunately I was able to run with my cousin, who lives in Portland with her husband!
The expo was at held at an elementary school, so bib pickup was easy!
The Vernonia Trail is about 45 minutes from Portland, so we had to get up a bit earlier to drive out
The prerace started at the Cedar Ridge Retreat Center in Vernonia. We ran around the Vernonia lake, then onto the Banks-Vernonia State Trail, and finished at the Banks High School on the track.
Volunteers were very helpful and motivational!
My only complaint is that most of us as we were running towards the lake we told to run in the opposite direction around the lake.
We were supposed to turn right, but we were directed to turn left. My theory is that the volunteers used *their* right and not *our* right. We ran a little more around the lake to make up the miles
In the midst of confusion around the lake, a dog bit me on my left side. It was my first time getting attacked by one, so I was very surprised.
My cousin's husband was there to tell the medic at the nearest aid station, so I had to stop running for about 5 minutes to get patched up.
Miles 20-26.2 were flat and in the sun, so it got hot!
The end of the race had drinks and soups!
Chicken noodle and broccoli cheddar! Sadly there was no beer!
Since I stayed with my cousin, we had a nice dinner with champagne. Plus we got to hang out in the hot tub
This can be an opportunity to BQ/PR because it's mainly flat and in the woods (so there is shade). For a good chunk of the race, it's downhill so people can pick up speed.
