Amsterdam

Review

• I picked this race because I loved going to Berlin last year, so I wanted to do another international marathon

  • My mom wanted to go with me because she wanted to hang out with me!

• Getting to Amsterdam was annoying since I flew to Chicago from Morgantown, then Dublin, then Amsterdam

• The expo was at the RAI Amsterdam (aka a convention center) and it was huge! They really want all out to make this a big event

  • There was history from the first races, posters from Olympians, and a speaker series

• The race started and ended at the Olympic Stadium

• The course ran on a similar route to the Olympic games in 1928 along the Amstel River

  • The out and back along the Amstel River was approximately 8 miles (13 km)

  • The course was beautiful since I didn't know Amsterdam had various farms outside of the city

• We also run through Rijksmuseum, which is the famous passage which connects Amsterdam city center with the south of Amsterdam 

• Then we run through Vondelpark, the largest park in Amsterdam. We run through the park towards the end of the race

• The finish line was packed!

  • My mom managed to get a few pictures of me right after I crossed the finish line

  • There were food trucks that had burgers, chips (aka fries), and beer

• Overall this is was a fun race! I definitely could see myself doing this one again, especially since the weather was perfect and the course is mostly flat!
