Salina (aka Crossroads)
Review
This is a very special races since the sponsors of the town make it possible for cheap or free race entries!
I signed up on New Year's Eve (or New Year's Day) for FREE! The other times race registration will only cost $5.00!
The expo was at a hotel, and it wasn't too small!
There were some additional tables, like PT
Parking was free and it was at the library!
We started at the Lights Stage
All runners started at the same time: Full, half, and relay
There were pacers for throughout the time limit (ex. 4:45, 4:15, 3:30)
There were about 1,000 people total, but less than 500 marathon runners
Since this was a small race, I was able to freely run and not have to zig-zag between people
The weather was 0/10!
This was the first time I ran in the rain! I used a trash bag to somewhat protect myself from the rain
I discarded the trash bag around mile 2 since it was getting hard to run with it
The half marathoners ran the course once, and the marathoners ran the course twice
There are 2 hills! One at mile 6 and the other at mile 7.5!
The volunteers were 10/10!
Considering that it was raining the entire time, it was wonderful that the volunteers stayed out in the rain!
The afterparty had a lot to offer!
There were cheesecake (regular and chocolate), sandwiches (Philly + veggie), and food truck options
I would use this as a BQ/PR opportunity since the hills weren't terrible, just annoying since it was raining
