Austria is one of the twenty-seven sovereign states that make up the European Union, and its capital is Vienna which is made up of nine states. Its official language is German; however, many Austrians communicate informally in a variety of Bavarian dialects.
Austria is since 1994 a member country of the European Union. Border countries are the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Liechtenstein, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Switzerland.
My first time in Austria, I got to admit that it was a cultural shock. I went there for work, dressing very formally, and when I got to the office everybody was wearing T-shirts and jeans, so I felt a little overdressed in my best suit. The following days I dressed a little bit more casually, but I realized that 90% of the staff both administrative and operational, dress very casually for work. The second was food, it was not bad but flavor-wise it was a little bit bland. After eating for 15 days schnitzels and sausages, I was craving the Panamanian sancocho and the arroz con pollo. And third, everywhere you went you will find people smoking on the streets, which was not nice since I just wanted to walk and breathe pure air.
However, all these things didn’t take away Austria´s enchantment. The city of Vienna is just wonderful, in it, you find history, art, music, nature, and culture. In just 15 minutes you can go from the center of the city to the Danube Island. Vienna is a beauty. Splendid buildings from the Baroque era and the many green oases that everyone immediately falls in love with.
During my weekend I took some time to know more about Vienna, my first trip was to visit and admire the famous Schoenborn Palace, an architectural gem. Schoenborn Palace was the former summer residence of the emperor's family. After that, I visited some museums and at night I went to the Opera to enjoy a terrific Mozart concert. It was my first opera concert, and 100 percent sure it won’t be the last.
To conclude, Austria is a beautiful country where you will find a little bit of everything to do, you will never get bored. You will have fun both in the city and outside of Vienna, where you will find more wonders of nature. If you have not visited yet, I encourage you to go to Austria, it is one of the countries that you must add to your bucket list.
