I love to share our ministry with others and find who the Lord is leading to partner with us, but I personally don't know enough people to ask. You're here because you believe in and are excited about this work to international college students. Don't keep that to yourself! There are others out there, including your friends and family, who would be just as excited, but they need to be asked first.
Because this work is so important, I want to ask you and every partner to commit to asking 10-12 people to join our team.
For every 6 people I contact to ask to share about our ministry, usually only 2 will want to meet up to learn more.
Of those 2 I meet with to share our ministry, usually only 1 of them will join our team of partners.
Introducing me to 12 people usually leads to about 2 new partners.
Help our ministry to grow by inviting your friends and family to join us in our efforts. Being involved in God's work is a blessing in our lives that we should want to share with others. Who do you want to share this opportunity with?
Think about this: If you were in my shoes, raising support to engage in this great ministry to international college students, who would be the first 10 or 12 people you would tell about what you will be doing?
Follow these steps and it's really easy:
STEP 1
STEP 2
STEP 3
STEP 4
I find it easier to think these things through when I'm making a list. Get a pen and paper, jot some notes on your laptop, or grab your smart phone!
Go through the list below one by one. Try to take a full minute for each group type on the list to think and write down people you know from these areas of life. (Also, feel free to create your own group types and use those).
After you've made your list reach out to them to let them know who I am, why you're excited about Bridges International/Cru, and why you thought of them for this opportunity. Don't forget to mention that I (Sam) will be contacting them soon.
To make it a little easier for you, I've made some sample text messages and email messages for you to look at. You can use these examples to connect with them if you'd like.
Now that you've contacted your new potential partner in ministry (Remember, you're a part of this ministry now 😀) email me (Sam) to let me know. Make sure to include:
You can email me here: Samuel.Davis@BridgesInternational.com
I know I'm asking you for an opportunity to enter into trusted friendships and I want to respect your relationships. So, I won't contact them at all until you've had the chance to let them know about me and our ministry. When you do, all I will do is call them and ask for an appointment to meet and share our ministry.
When I call them, I'll say:
“Hi! My name is Sam Davis. Your friend suggested I give you a call. I work with a ministry to international college students called Bridges International, a ministry of Cru and your friend thought you’d be encouraged to hear about our ministry. I would love the opportunity to meet and share with you who I am, the ministry God has called me to, and invite you to partner with us financially and prayerfully.”
If they say "Yes", we will meet up, but if they say "No" I will thank them for their time and that's it!
As a way to thank you for inviting other people to join our work, I'd like to give you a gift. Check out the Gear Page for more information.
