【About the show】
In The Big Things and the Tiny Little Things, three common species in Hong Kong, namely sparrows, mushrooms and bees, are sometimes transformed into two-metre-tall puppets and sometimes shrunk in the stories of the “memory docents” and hidden in their storytelling miniature huts. In this disorienting performance where creatures grow large and small, our urban memories are woven together.
The show is divided into three parts. In Part 1, flash mob landing, the little creatures that have grown much larger impressively land at Tai Kwun for a temporary stay and then disappear. In Part 2, the tiny little things, the audience follows the Memory Tour to different corners of Tai Kwun to meet the creatures in a different way. Each docent carries a miniature hut that collects stories of how they “live” with the little creatures in the city. Finally, the creatures will reappear in Part 3 in the giant puppet theatre performance the big things, to look back at the complex symbiotic relationship between nature and the city from perspectives both big and small.
