PRAYER FOCUS
OUTREACH MINISTRY
Dearest friends and co-labourers of God, I greet you in the Name of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Please pray along with me:
O God our Heavenly Father, this month we celebrated our Church’s 91st Anniversary. We thank you for being good and faithful to us all these years. You have blessed us beyond what we could ever ask for and imagine. Surely, your steadfast love has pursued us through all these 91 years, and we are confident that it will continue to do so far into our future. We can only pray that we have been faithful and loyal to you, too, Heavenly Father. You have called us to be a family blessed to bless the community and the nations. So, we humbly ask you to give us the strength to be able to go out and bless the various people in our community, the willingness to show your love to them through the works we do for them, and the wisdom and courage to tell them about your Son Jesus Christ when the opportunity to do so presents itself.
We pray for all our elderly friends in the three St Luke’s Eldercare Centres that we visit – the Serangoon Centre, the Hougang (Lor Ah Soo Centre), and the Hougang Meadow Centre. We pray that you will bless them with healthy bodies and healthy minds. We pray for those who are suffering from dementia – that they would have more good days than not so good ones. And we pray that every moment that we spend time with the elderly in the Centres reminds them that we are able to love them because you first loved us. In all the songs that we sing, the testimonies that we tell, the activities that we do with them, help us to put Jesus Christ at the centre and forefront so that our elderly friends have no doubt that Jesus loves them and wants only the best for their lives.
We pray for the Migrant Workers at the Shaw Road Dormitories whom we befriend and minister to. We ask that you provide each one of them with strength to get through each day of toil, and to allow them to get their mandated rest on their rest days. We pray that each of them will get enough food to eat so that they will be energised to do their work. We also ask that you quickly heal those who fall ill and bring them to full restoration of good health. And we pray that as they work here in a foreign land, that you will protect their families in their homeland from any adversity. When we bring them out for outings, help us to show them that you love them and desire that they enter your Kingdom. Allow our Church to be a Safe Place for them.
We pray for the women and children in the Anglican Family Centre. Many of them are going through the trauma of divorce proceedings. We ask that you give our co-workers the wisdom to comfort them and be a listening ear for them. We ask you to not allow the proceedings to drag on, but to come to a swift conclusion – if restoration and reconciliation is not possible. And as we minister to them, help us to show them that you love them and are concerned for their and their children’s well-being.
As our co-workers move among the people in our community to partner with you to bless them, guard them, watch over them and keep them safe. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen!
