HIGHLIGHTS

GREENHOUSE PROGRAMME
(Closing Date: 17 July)

The Worship and Music Ministry is conducting the Greenhouse Programme in August. If you used to play the Acoustic Guitar but have since stopped playing, come brush up on your playing skills again. There's also a beginner's course in Prophetic Art and no experience is required.

These workshops will help you grow these skills so you can serve God in your cell group, special events and even on mission trips. This is especially relevant as we prepare for 2025 (Year of Expansion), where the whole church is encouraged to reach out in and impact our community and the world in a  concerted effort.

The courses and workshops offered this year are taught by Christian teachers who are professional trainers in their field of expertise in Singapore.

Each course will last 4 weeks, and the detailed fees for the courses are listed in the table.

Please Note that for Acoustic Guitar, participants would need some music background (either playing experience or Grade 5 piano/theory).

For Prophetic Art, participants won't need prior any experience.

The Keyboard workshop is already fully subscribed.

40.Day 2023

Scripture tells us:

That our leaders are bearers of deep truths of the faith (1 TIMOTHY 3:9)

That what God is about to do, He first tells His prophets (AMOS 3:7)

That in an abundance of wise counsel there is victory (PROVERBS 11:14)

That we are to love and heed the instruction of our leaders (PROVERBS 12:1)

This is the heart of this new iteration of the annual 40.Dayprayer season.

This year, we will hear 40 devotional insights and 40 prayers from 40 leaders in Singapore, male and female, spanning pastors, missionaries, and para-church heads.

What has God been telling our prophets? What instruction will He give us in their wise counsel? Will we heed His Word?

And in a 40.Day first, we will literally hear from them.

Their voices, visage and emotion will be brought to your screens daily on video as they share the Word in Season for the Church.

Every video will be accompanied by —

An English article, including reflection questions and prayer pointers

A Chinese translation of the article, reflection questions and prayer pointers

A Family Devotion edition, suitable for children under 12 years old

— all published daily on LoveSingapore platforms from 1 July to 9 August:

TRAC VOCATIONAL CONVERSATIONS 2023

"Is the Lord calling you to serve as a pastor in the Methodist Church? If He is, or if you think He may be, the TRAC Board of Ministry invites you to join us for a day of discernment, to clarify if this is the path of discipleship He summons you to. Come and hear about life in ministry from Methodist pastors, and let us guide you in a time of solitude and stillness as you listen to what God is saying to you about pastoral ministry.

This retreat is open to Methodists between 18-50 years of age. We welcome all interested registrants, including those who have attended previous retreats, or are about to apply to be a pastor."

Interested participants can register at tiny.cc/TRAC_discern, and the deadline is 10 Sep.

THE CHRISTIAN CALENDAR - PENTECOST

Sun 28 May 2023 is Pentecost Sunday and begins the season of Pentecost.

Pentecost celebrates the giving of the Holy Spirit as the Paraclete / Advocate and the birth of the Church. Coming 50 days after Easter, the season’s liturgical colour is red, symbolizing the Holy Spirit’s fire and the blood of the martyrs. Pentecost focuses on the gift and the work of the Holy Spirit, and the themes include God’s community (the Church), the gifts and fruits of the Spirit, and spreading the Gospel.
