Loving our Neighbours  by Understanding their Faiths
Closing Date: 4 Aug 2024

Living in a multi-religious society like Singapore, most of us take the presence of people of other faiths as a given. We may either not think too much about them. Yet in this context, loving our neighbours includes understanding them well - Buddhists, Hindus, Taoists, Muslims. This course seeks to understand religions in Singapore: what they believe and how they practise their faith, so that Christians can relate with them graciously and with love. Appreciating their worldview and practices will then enable us to have meaningful dialogues.

Dates: 14, 21, 28 August 2024 (Wednesdays)

Time: 7.45pm to 10pm

Venue: Jordan Hall (Covenant Block, Level 1)

Speaker: Dr. Kwa Kiem-Kiok

Kiem-Kiok is an Assoc Professor in Singapore Bible College and teaches in the area of mission. She is a local preacher at Trinity Methodist Church. Together with her husband, a Methodist pastor, they enjoy walking in the outdoors.

Course: Navigating Christian Life in
Multi-Religious Asia
Closing Date: 13 Aug 2024

Asia is the cradle to some of the world's oldest religions: Buddhism, Daoism, Confucianism and Hinduism. These religious traditions are still very 'alive' and important to millions of Asians. As Christians living in Asia, it is our mission to engage and dialogue with people of other faiths, so as to build bridges for the proclamation of the gospel in Asia. Despite living in such a multi-religious society, many Asian Christians still have superficial knowledge of the religious beliefs of their neighbours.

The aim of this course is to introduce students to Buddhism, Confucianism, Hinduism and Tribal religions, and consider how we may engage these traditions meaningfully in the 21st century. Topics included in this course are the method for the study of world religions and a biblical theology of religions through an interaction of selected religious texts. Throughout the course, practical implications for gospel and culture, evangelism and inter-religious dialogue, the destiny of the unevangelized and the mission of the local church will be also explored.

Dates: Fridays,  16 Aug , 30 Aug, 13, 27 Sep (Guided tour to places of worship), 11 Oct (Visit to Harmony Centre), 25 Oct, 8 Nov
Time: 7.15pm-10.00pm
Venue: Online Via Zoom

Speaker: Mr Low Kwang Meng
