PRAYER FOCUS
OUTREACH
Dearest friends and co-labourers of God, I greet you in the Name of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Please pray along with me:
O God our Heavenly Father, as we celebrate the Lunar New Year this year, help us to remember that there are those in the community who would wish to celebrate but are unable to because of their circumstances. As we go around the community during this festive time, give us the opportunity to love the people with the love you have given to us, so that they can enjoy a small portion of what we enjoy.
As we bring blessings to the elderly in the St Luke’s Eldercare Centres and in ECON Medicare Centre, help us to remember that many of them are lonely and crave simple conversations and company. Allow us, then to bring joy to them by listening to their stories and their memories of happy moments. Bless the staff of these centres and give them extra strength and tolerance to lovingly manage those with dementia.
Give us hearts to minister to the homeless and the rough sleepers. They don’t even have families and homes to celebrate the Lunar New Year with. Give us a double portion of love to bring to them, O God, so that for that one moment of engagement with them, they can feel the love that you want to give to them through us. We ask that your presence be with them through their loneliness.
As we deliver the Lunar New Year blessings to the poor and needy families in Block 223A Serangoon Ave 4 and Blk 8 Lor Lew Lian, we ask that you continue to touch and transform the hearts of the people and families whom we minister to there. We are thankful that you have transformed some hearts there and we believe that you will transform even more hearts. We share the desire of your Son Jesus Christ, who wants sheep outside the sheep pen to be brought in. So, even as we continue to love them as you want us to love them, turn their hearts towards you.
Keep the passion in us burning for you and for the people whom you love, O God. We will look at all the people in our community through your eyes. And we will try our best to see Jesus in them so that as we serve them, it will be as though we are serving your Son himself. We pray all these things in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
