When a user draws or writes about their characters in stories for woe, they can earn Woe Cash (WC) and Experience Points (EXP) for their character. The experience you earn for your character will unlock a multitude of things depending on their level.
As a general concise, these are known as The Watcher's "Gifts".
These can range from regaining memories to evolution to legendary power.
The first gift that The Watcher gives to a lost soul is an anthropomorphic form. This new form allows the soul to exist within Woe Manor and grants special abilities.
Lvl 0. You have one ability that your Pokemon species has access to in a main series Pokemon game, including hidden abilities. You know two moves your species can learn in any main series Pokemon game, including tms, tutored moves, egg moves, and special event moves.
Lvl 1. You learn another move that your species can learn.
Lvl 2. You learn another move that your species can learn.
If you want to change your moves you must buy a Move Relearner item in the shop. Anytime you change your typing or species you can change your moveset and ability for free.
Becoming a lost soul leaves your character with amnesia. The Watcher gives you your memories back bit by bit. Take note that these memories can be restored in any way you like, seeing the events in a dream, having hallucinations, etc. You don't need to follow the flavor text in the rank journal to a t.
Lvl 1. You remember your true name.
Lvl 3. You remember your childhood.
Lvl 5. You remember your death.
Lvl 6. You remember a traumatic experience.
Lvl 7. You remember various mundane experiences.
Lvl 9. You remember your curse.
The Watcher grants magical powers to people that he deems worthy quite often. These powers appear in the form of moves as spells. These spells must be of a type that you are and cannot be legendary-exclusive moves.
Lvl 4. You gain 3 status moves from your type's movelist. You can mix and match with one primary type move and 2 of your secondary type for example. (Pure fire type and pure dragon type Pokemon don't have 3 status moves in their movepool so they can take damaging moves to fill out their 3 slots.)
Lvl 6. You gain 3 damaging moves, physical or special, from your type's movelist. You can mix and match between special and physical.
Lvl 8. You gain 3 more moves from your type's movelist for a total of 9 magic moves.
If you want to change your magic you must buy a Magic Relearner item in the shop. Anytime you change your typing you can change your magic spells for free. Remember, you cannot cast spells if your types don't match them.
The Watcher grants the ability of Mega Evolution to only his most exalted followers. Mega evolution is a painful transformation that makes a character much more powerful. All Pokemon can mega evolve, even Pokemon without canon megas and Pokemon that aren’t fully evolved. (You get to design those megas yourself.) Keep this info in mind when designing your character’s mega.
Lvl 7. You gain the ability to Mega Evolve. It only lasts an hour and you can only use it once a day.
Lvl 10. You gain the ability to Mega Evolve permanently.

Eventually, The Watcher will bestow the ultimate power onto you: a legendary move.
You become exhausted after using it, its power takes a lot out of you. This move cannot be changed unless your typing changes and you no longer have the type needed to cast it. Please note that Multi-Attack and Technoblast cannot change types.
Lvl 9. Pick one legendary move from the list below. It must match one of your types.
A wish is the most powerful blessing that the watcher can bestow. It grants one of the following items or you can speak to the mods about a different reward. See all past wishes here.
Lvl 10. One wish of yours is granted.
Resurrect a character with the amount of EXP they had at death.
Make yourself immortal, unable to die at anyone's hands.
Gain ultimate magic that could even rival The Watcher himself.
This isn't something that The Watcher has given you, but something that you have acquired through poor actions in your previous life. Curses are extreme actions that cause others to suffer, usually, they are irreversible. These acts can be murders, affairs, participating in an evil team, etc.
Curses don't have to be intentional acts, The Watcher is unforgiving and doesn't usually care about how a curse is committed, just who is responsible. Your character will not remember what their curse is until they reach a certain rank.
Curses cannot be sexual in nature.
Curses cannot be overly political.
Curses handling suicide must be handled with care and discussed with the mod team.
Being LGBT+ isn't going to fly as a curse. Neither is any mental illness or suicide. We really hope that this is obvious.
Curses should severely impact someone's life in a negative way, usually not exclusively your character's.
If you're having trouble coming up with a curse to fit your character, please contact a mod.
