Welcome to the PKMN-WOE Form Change Guide!
This guide is intended to explain the unique forms within woe that includes aesthetic, ability, and similar adaptations to look out for. This guide also goes over forms that aren't accessible to tenants.
Form changing in Woe is a natural gift that is packaged in the anthro forms of certain guests when they arrive at Woe Manor. These transformations can be powerful, painful, and most of all complicated for new tenants to wrap their heads around, luckily someone seems to have written a few guides for mon who can and can’t change form within the manor’s walls.
We’ve divided pokemon with form variations into several categories to make rules around them easier. Each pokemon is unique however so please read up on them here if you wish to make a tenant with a form changing species. If you still have questions or we have missed a form, please contact us via the ticket system within our Discord. All forms are referenced from Bulbapedia here.
You must designate a form as a primary form. This form’s info will be the info recorded in the database.
Your stats/moveset/spells do not change when you change form.
You can choose bonus stats (the +2 to your stats from your typing) from any of your form’s typings.
You can choose moves from any of your form's learnsets.
You can choose spells from any of your form’s typings but you can only cast spells of the types you currently are.
Your typing/ability might change depending on the form.
You must submit additional form designs for mod review before use in the group.
Fusions/Type changes will affect all forms in the same way.
If you type change a Rotom so it's secondary type is dark, all forms will have their secondary typing changed.
If you fuse an Oricorio with a Venusaur all forms must reflect this fusion and have the same mechanical changes applied. You cannot have one form take the poison typing and another take the grass typing.
If you fuse two pokemon that have Category II ability/type/etc changing forms, you can only choose one of the pokemon’s form sets to swap between.
If you can change form due to an ability, losing that ability means you lose the ability to change forms (ie. Darmanitan’s Zen Mode)
If you gain an ability that would allow you to change forms through an ability capsule, and you are not the pokemon indicated in the ability, it will not work.
Megas cannot have multiple Category II ability/type/etc changing forms. You can meld all your forms together or just focus on one of your moves. You can still only have one mega though.
Ultimately, changing form is up to interpretation of the owner outside of these rules and the descriptions below. You can choose to give your pokemon the exact items needed to change form, base it in their mood, or never have them change form at all.
These pokemon have different forms, however they are purely for aesthetic purposes and do not affect the mechanics of Woe (spells, typing, abilities) at all (though some might grant access to extra moves from other form’s learnsets). Feel free to interpret them however you like. Due to the minor aesthetic effects of these forms, they do not have to take a lot of energy or time to change into.
