During the course of your character’s afterlife they can die a second time. This can happen through many different facets: the staff can murder you during an official night RP, your character can be killed in a personal interaction (with permission), your character can run too far into the forest, or you could just be involved in an unfortunate accident. The list is endless in the land of WOE, and we've had a number of characters pass on from very small endeavors to large extravagant ordeals.
We do understand not everyone is willing nor wants their character to die! If you prefer to have your character live you can opt out of death by buying a revival herb in the shop. It’s a one-use item, but instead of dying your character will faint or wake up in their bed feeling as if they were on their death-bed, but relatively unharmed.
Ultimately the fate of your characters lies in your own hands.
If you do want your characters to die you must understand these rules.
Characters can only die if they have been in the group for more than a month.
If you continue to kill month old characters excessively, ex. 5 characters in 5 months, then your cooldown period between deaths might be extended.
Death is semi-permanent. If your character dies they cannot come back very easily. Nothing short of a gift from The Watcher can revive a dead character.
Now let's say that you have followed these rules and your character has died. Rest in peace… well not really. Now a few things happen.
First, a slot of the same type is returned to you, so if you used a standard room key you would get that key refunded so you can create a new character. All of the items that the character had on their person would also get refunded to you. These items can then be given to another character you own, a new character, or another option that hasn’t opened yet. Items that were used on your characters cannot be returned like TMs and Elixirs. The character’s room will be cleaned and marked as vacant.
Next, all of the character's EXP will be lost. There is one exception to this rule, if you draw/write about the character dying then you will get 50% of the EXP refunded.
You can either:
Give this EXP to a completely new character
Convert it directly to WC at a 1 to 1 ratio
Choose a Gacha Bag filled with a random assortment of 9 non-event exclusive furniture items and 1 exclusive furniture item not normally available outside of past event participation & 250 WC,
Redeem 2 modifying items that your character had used on them.
EXAMPLE: If a Pinkan character that died had 100 EXP, you could add 50 EXP to a new character, you could take 50 WC, or you could take that pink elixir back. You cannot add the refunded EXP towards an existing character.
Lastly, your dead character will be reborn as a servant to the manor. These servants can be seen in the Crypt Servants page of the database. New ones are added anytime a character dies. These special servants are unown fused with the Pokemon they used to be. They are called crypt servants. Once your character becomes one of these you will not have control over them in rps, though they can still be revived through a gift from The Watcher. If they are revived the crypt servant disappears. You can design these servants yourself or just let a mod or helper make the design. These servants are used in group events quite frequently so expect cameos from your dead characters.
NOTE: As of May 5th, 2022, we have added a new clause thanks to the Blood Bank! If your character was murdered by another tenant, the owner of that tenant earns WC equal to 25% of the dying tenant's EXP at their time of death, with or without a death piece.
NOTE: As of October 10th, 2024, members may now redeem two modifying items used on the character back to their general inventory! Thank you for your contribution to the Blood Bank!
A lot can change over your time in the group, and we understand that. Something from Willow's Shop or a Wish from The Watcher might help you bring back what was once lost!
We totally get it! If that is what you're seeking, look no further than the Tenant Erasure page. It has all the steps and answers you need to make this happen. Please read the terms properly before deciding to take this course!
