Woe Manor has had many different staff members, and this book is here to illustrate the famed staff over the years. Our illustrious manor is always in constant need of upkeep and the Manager is tasked with always making sure that the manor is well staffed for every job that is needed. The jobs may change over time, as well as the staff, but every single individual has been carefully looked over and chosen for a specific reason, whether it be their talents and skills or their relationships in the manor and how they carry themself. Every staff member is blessed with Immortality, though it can be taken away along with their position at any moment.
Here in this book you will find such past staff members who have either passed, moved on, were fired, or went missing for some reason or another.
The Manager of the manor who commands respect through his creepy demeanor and odd amount of hidden power. He might have insomnia, as he is known to sleep very little. He drinks tea semi-often, and his favorite type seems to be Earl Grey. He is almost never seen without his trusty red candle, even if it is unlit most of the time.
The head Bellhop of Woe. He fears Weston’s wrath if all of his duties do not get done in a timely manner and wishes to stay on the rat’s good side. He fears the Watcher’s wrath as well, and refuses to even refer to them to avoid offending them in any way. He tends to work almost all day as a result of trying to make up for Roth and Klaus’s lack of work. Maxwell is cautious of Seth for obvious reasons, but he really enjoys his cooking.
Ever since Klaus died and Roth disappeared, he has been rather depressed. It is slowly getting better, but all in all his mood has its ups and downs nowadays.
The nurse of the manor currently, who is a Pinkan Lucario who can be rather obsessive, as shown by her passion for nursing and the color pink alone. She is not very fond of Willow or Seth for unknown reasons, but is not hostile towards them. She has a jar of free lollipops that she gives out to everyone who drops by her office. She wishes she was part fairy type. Her favorite blood type is O. Her room is VERY pink and she will only furnish it with pink things so it all matches. She is also fond of plants, though not many of them can survive her mostly pink lighting and forgetfulness when it comes to watering them. She will take any lengths she deems necessary to make everything she has control over to match her twisted pink aesthetic, including the nurse’s office and even the nurses themselves as much as she can. Bliss's weapon of choice (or weapons in her case) is the combo of a syringe and a scalpel.
The head chef of Woe who currently trains Cassandra as his sous chef. He does not dabble with baked goods and prefers to leave those to Cassidy. His beloved pet is a Sylveon named Daphne, but no one has seen her since he refuses to let her roam anywhere outside of his room. Seth enjoys fairy types, and seems to be his favorite type. He used to work under Buffet. It is known by some that Seth has a pet he enjoys spoiling, but Daphne is more than a pet to him. She is his entire life, and if she were to ever get hurt, there would be dire consequences towards whatever harmed her. Seth is a prideful man, and as such prides everything he does. His best skills include cooking, stewing, blooding, skinning, fighting, hunting, and killing. When it gets super hot, Seth likes to soak his shirt in ice water before putting it back on. Being a fire-type, he actually gets hot rather often in the kitchen, but this happens most often during summer. He tries to be discreet about it but it gets harder the hotter it is in the kitchen.
Cassandra (nicknamed Cassidy or Cass with a preference for the latter) is the resident baker and sous chef of the manor, working under her hero, Seth. She doesn’t eat much of her own dishes and doesn’t prefer any foods, but her hair’s mouth is very fond of Mac n’ Cheese. Her favorite types of dishes to make are desserts, like cinnamon rolls and cakes. She gets jealous of people who interact with Seth very easily. Her hair’s mouth can effectively wield knives, as she has practiced this for multitasking in the kitchen. She is constantly experimenting with new recipes and loves asking tenants to taste them for her.
The shopkeeper of the manor who can magically give you most items that you need, always at a cost of course. She is an avid reader of mystery novels. She likes to read in her spare time and between serving customers at her shop. She loves foods with a bitter flavor, and as a result likes Dark Chocolate quite a bit. She survived a dance with death thanks to the mystery solving of the tenants during one of the October Masquerades.
She is currently still mourning the loss of her best friend Wave, and wishes there was a way to bring her back again.
The Watcher-fearing rancher known as Oasis is a solitary woman who keeps to herself at her ranch, busied by her work to supply the manor with most of their goods. Oasis doesn't have much time for hobbies due to her job, but if she does manage to find the time to pass to, she spends her time either reading, homesteading, or playing with the ferals on the ranch.
Her wish for a new kingdom backfired and now all she has left is to work away her immortal debt to the Watcher for her never-ending list of crimes and one underling who despises her guts. She is tasked with carrying out her job of Beautician to every tenant and staff member, regardless of if she likes them or not. Abyss has a type she is attracted to in a partner. Her type are cute and pretty girls with a nice personality, a nicer wardrobe is a bonus.
A mysterious black cat who claims to be the gravedigger of Woe and keeper of the Crypt at the center of the garden maze. He claims he can talk to worms and plants, but somehow you doubt this is true. He likes to brew his own tea, which is often barely flavored leaf water. He has a glass eye which he often loses. He has his own mini garden among the graves next to the Crypt, and grows vegetables, roots, and tea herbs there. Graves has probably died the most times out of any staff member, but somehow keeps coming back. Perhaps he has even more than nine lives?
The small Librarian who is a bit of a brat. He was saved from the attic during Spring Cleaning, where he regained his position, though no one is quite sure how he even lost it in the first place. Ozwald's favorite book genre is romance.
The grumpy old fix-all of the Manor. If it breaks, he gets it working in no time! He prefers his solitude, but after being forced to take over for Mr. as the cleaning staff's boss, he has been seen more often outside of the Boiler Room. While he has some soft spots, he still has a temper and will try to kill you if you mess with him.
Always ordering take-out chinese...somehow? This sly lemur is one step ahead of most people and loves playing mind games. He almost enjoy suffering just as much as he is in charge of taking care of it, and really only seem to be out for himself. He is rather chill and doesn't seem at all wanting to fight unless he has to though, being stuck in his office with the heart of the Manor.
He always stays out in his Lighthouse to keep it running, and is a stern older gentlemen. He is as mysterious as the sea he came from, and not much is known about him yet. Would you dare venture out and talk to him to find out more?
The suave bartender who doesn't like drama. He does not tolerate gossip and idle chatter, as well as any harm coming to his staff. You better tip well, or expect swift justice from this handsome moth.
Apparently she had been around in a previous era, and now she is back as head entertainer to take over what was left of the abandoned theatre. She only tolerates rock, punk, and some alternative music, with all other acts being booed off the stage. She also loves causing trouble with Dusty and any other reckless tenants that like causing havoc.
As the soft-spoken and warm-hearted brewer in charge of the Cafe, Thistle is often found talking to tenants new and old when they’re not working hard making drinks and baking breads. This barista always has a story from the past to tell and a new record to play. They enjoy their peace and all manner of folk, indie, jazz, and blues music. Thistle seems to always have something good to say about most people and nothing to say at all about others
A hardworking seamstress ready to help everyone with their fashionly needs, this calm yet ambitious ghostly sheep can be found in her hard-earned workshop, never devoid of projects to be materialized true to her visions. She welcomes company, so long as you don't cause her to lose her focus!
A happy-go-luck dust bunny, Junior is very serious about keeping the manor as clean as can be. When he’s not eating up garbage or mopping the floors, you can find the little janitor hanging out with the younger crowd of tenants. He’s a good sport so long as you don’t bring your pets around him!
Fold is one of the two joyous little mice that takes charge of the casino. She's someone to demand attention at all times when she's out and about, and she is extremely easy to get along with just as along as you compliment her, her dear lover, or the casino itself.
Raise is the second of the two eccentric little mice that runs the casino. Raise is the least trustful and most protective of the two bosses. She demands respect and adoration and is easy enough to get along with so long as you respect her, the casino and most importantly her lover, Fold.
JUDGE, JURY, EXECUTIONER. IF YOU COULD MURDER SOMEONE WITHOUT CONSEQUENCE, WOULD YOU?
Buffet is a large Drowzee who never opens their eyes and relishes in cooking the most unorthodox of dishes. To further their cooking career, they were given the role of chef, and took on a number of apprentices, most noteworthy Being Seth the Yamask (refer to their personal chapter in Modern Staff for further info on Seth). They are noted for being rather confusing in their own goals and ambitions, so not much is known about them.
It is unknown when they got mixed up and sent to Abyss’s Kingdom to be her chef, and where they went when she abandoned her kingdom, but they are currently retired in the Manor happily after their innermost wish for legs was granted at the cost of the collapse of the cursed water he called home, dooming all who still remained inside it.
They hosted a Banquet during Halloween where they made an enchantingly haunting soup out of their best friend Clip, and boasts that they wish to continue cooking again if they can make such delicious dishes still, even if just for fun.
Luxury (nicknamed Lux) was a Chandelure/Braixen Fusion and the sadistic, cruel bartender for Woe until her untimely death at the hands of the tenants in the current generation. She had attempted to kill Willow and failed, invoking the wrath of the Watcher for botching up such a simple task despite being able to fool most of the tenants into believing it was someone else. She was terminated at the request of the Watcher themself, and will no longer be hosting the traditional October Masquerades held yearly by staff for tenants.
Merlot was a Poison Typed Meowstic who loved theatrics and was flamboyantly obsessed with having the best entertainment he could in his theater while alive. His demise came about when the Watcher requested his personal Termination over matters unknown, though it could be the falling through of plans he was never able to carry out. Merlot, when alive, was a rather eccentric man and did not tolerate anything less than perfection in both his on-stage acts and his behind-the-stage crew. Out of all the art forms however, he found paintings and drawings to be the most useless since they were hardly any spectacle to watch.
Best friend of Willow, and one the Lifeguard of the pool who was originally saved from the Basement after being able to make some cryptic texts via the phone system. She had trust issues with mostly everyone who isn’t Willow, but tries her best despite this. However, she truly despises Abyss for having kidnapped her while in her Kingdom. She became a Lifeguard to make sure her kingdom never arises again.
No one knows how or why she died, but some say it was because of the lack of deaths in the Manor...Maybe there is a way to bring her back?
One of the bellhops under employment of Weston and his Managers, Klaus rebels against authority and would rather be doing anything than working at the Manor. Klaus prefers being on her own, but will occasionally let Roth tag along on her pranks. She has collaborated with Dusty for some of her more grandeur pranks.
She died due to unknown causes, but the last person seen with her was Maxwell, so a few of the staff are rather suspicious of that...
The youngest bellhop, Roth doesn’t really see Maxwell as an authoritative figure and therefore would rather follow Klaus’s example. They also see Klaus as an older sister figure, so they tend to respect her quite a bit. Roth is Nonbinary, and does not conform to male or female standards, tending to switch back and forth in their fashion identity to confuse people. They act standoffish and prideful, but since they know of so many manor horror stories, they will get occasional panic attacks that usually occur at night when they can hear the scratching of the crypt servants.
They got into a fight with Maxwell and then disappeared. No one knows if Maxwell murdered them, or they ran away, but they are as good as dead with how long they have been gone.
The janitor of Woe, who is stoic and usually rather silent. He loves the feeling of having his fur brushed and stroked. His least favorite task is dusting, as it gets in his fur and makes him sneeze a lot. Mr. is usually a reasonable man even if he seems standoffish and intimidating, but he has a secret hobby of collecting mini versions of large items. He has no idea why he is so fascinated by them, but he is and has a small collection of tiny toy versions of various things from food to tools. Mr. is good with his hands. He can fix just about anything that breaks in the manor, but he can also break anything in the manor as well. You may ask why he would want to do this, so to rephrase: he can break anyone in the manor as well.
Everyone misses him ever since he disappeared. There doesn't appear to be any malicious intent to his disappearance, so all the others can do is mourn.
Blinded and made flightless by the tenants of Woe, Clip is paying for his mistakes under the previous rule of Abyss in her kingdom. This penguin-like spa worker is remorseful of his actions and grateful for the second chance, and will take every moment to remind Abyss that she is paying for her own actions as well. Clip uses echolocation to move around while he is blind, and it gets better every day he uses it, however he still tends to bump into walls and people from time to time, especially if he turns suddenly.
He was added to the soup at the Halloween Banquet that Buffet hosted, becoming the secret ingredient due to his trust in the older cannibal. It was a sad state of affairs, but he made for such a delicious dash of friendship.
This little disaster fell out of the sky and into the garden maze one day, without a trace of memory left in their brain. They once seemed to love violence and pranks, though they also had quite a bit of empathy for such a rebellious soul.
Long ago, they lived in the basement and played god within its dwells. They spoke to anyone who listened and aided with their "experiments", known closer to being witchcraft and outright torture. These deadly choices with the Crypt Servants only aided to their timely demise, shredded to pieces by the same monsters they wished to play with.
The previous gardener for the manor. They were very reserved and liked to keep to themself, though they could have been seen hanging out with the Unown Servants during the day if they seeked company. Taylor is not scared of bug pokemon, but completely disliked them regardless. They once got stressed out very easily, especially when they had no work to do. They were a vegan, and a very picky eater. They really hated the crunch of dry leaves.
Their legendary move is said to overgrow the garden to a vast size whenever they use it, which thankfully was only out of control once.
A female Tentacool who was dragged into Abyss’s Kingdom as one of her commanding officers. She used to be a rather friendly girl with a love of water types who sadly perished by saving someone from drowning in her human life. As a Tentacool she was seen as tough and stoic, though she really just preferred to keep to herself, and ended up getting mixed in with Abyss before slowly going insane and only being freed from her constant agony by her own murder.
A male Mareep who was dragged into Abyss’s Kingdom as one of her underlings. He was always a coward, both in life, and in death, and got what he deserved in the end for his treachery.
A female Litwick who was dragged into Abyss’s Kingdom as her head scientist. In her human life she was a cruel woman who experimented on pokemon and other people. She was allowed to continue such behaviors in the depths of the sea, psychologically tormenting anyone unfortunate enough to come across her clutches until she was defeated.
A male Druddigon who was dragged into Abyss’s Kingdom as a scientist and experiment under Welt. He was always obsessed with advances in medicine, never satisfied with his simple pharmacy work, and always took his own work and experiments too far. He was ultimately killed for his attempts at making Abyss an army of superpowered undead through his experimentation.
A male Torchic who was dragged into Abyss’s Kingdom as one of her soldiers. He was always a coward, having accidentally ruined someone’s life and never taking the blame for it. He eventually attempted to redeem himself by sacrificing his life to help the tenants and Wave survive an arena-style battle against a hoard of Unown Crypt Monsters.
A male Sharpedo who was a part of Abyss’s Kingdom as her Second in Command. In life he happened to be a rather kind if dumb man, who started out as a bully only to later on become selfless. After forgetting all of his selfless traits while in Woe, he reverted to being a bully again and took orders from Abyss, enforcing her rule since she was pretty and powerful. He ultimately died trying to protect her from the tenants, though his death (as with his life) seems to go entirely uncared for by Abyss despite his unwavering loyalty.
